Biography of Robert Cheeseman 1485-1547

In or before 1485 [his father] Edward Cheeseman and [his mother] Joan Lawrence of Lancashire were married.

In 1485 Robert Cheeseman was born to Edward Cheeseman and Joan Lawrence of Lancashire.

In 1509 [his father] Edward Cheeseman died. His will was proved in November 1510, and he left extensive landholdings in Middlesex and Kent to his son. These included in Middlesex the manor and mansion house of Dormanswell in Southall, together with the manor of Southall which he had bought in 1496, and the manor of Norwood, together with the manors of Osterley and of Wyke. In Kent, he left land at Sundridge, Chevening, and Lewisham.

Before 1521 Robert Fairthwaite and [his future sister-in-law] Anne Dacres (age 36) were married.

Before 05 May 1523 Robert Cheeseman (age 38) and Alice Dacres were married.

On 05 May 1523 Robert Cheeseman (age 38) and Eleanor Owlett were married.

In 1528 Robert Cheeseman (age 43) was appointed Justice of the Peace for Middlesex.

Before 1530 John Pakington of Hampton Lovett (age 42) and [his sister-in-law] Anne Dacres (age 45) were married.

In 1530 Robert Cheeseman (age 45) was one of the commissioners on an inquiry into the possessions of Cardinal Thomas Wolsey (age 56) after he was attainted.

In 1536 [his mother] Joan Lawrence of Lancashire died.

On 28 Apr 1537 Robert Cheeseman (age 52) was elected MP Middlesex which seat he held until 24 Jul 1540.

In 1538 Robert Cheeseman (age 53) was on the Grand Jury at the trials of Geoffrey Pole (age 37).

In 1541 Robert Cheeseman (age 56) was on the Grand Jury at the trials of Thomas Culpeper and Francis Dereham for treason.

In 1547 Robert Cheeseman (age 62) died.
