On 09 Dec 1710 the Battle of Briheuga was concluded at Brihuega Guadalajara Spain. The British rearguard under Lord Stanhope (age 37) was surrounded in Brihuega by a Franco-Spanish army under Duc de Vendôme (age 56). James Stanhope 1st Earl Stanhope (age 37) surrendered once Vendôme's men had breached the town. The British troops were released and returned home in Oct 1711.
