On 14 Oct 1633 [his father] King James II of England Scotland and Ireland was born to [his grandfather] King Charles I of England, Scotland and Ireland (age 32) and [his grandmother] Henrietta Maria Bourbon Queen Consort England (age 23) at St James's Palace [Map]. He was created 1st Duke York at birth by his father.

On 03 Sep 1660 [his father] King James II of England Scotland and Ireland (age 26) and [his mother] Anne Hyde Queen Consort England (age 23) were married in secret. She by marriage Duchess York. She gave birth to their son [his brother] Charles Stewart seven weeks later. She the daughter of Edward Hyde 1st Earl Clarendon (age 51) and Frances Aylesbury Countess Clarendon (age 43). He the son of King Charles I of England, Scotland and Ireland and Henrietta Maria Bourbon Queen Consort England (age 50).

In 1666 Charles Stewart 1st Duke Kendal was created 1st Duke Kendal by [his grandfather] King Charles I of England, Scotland and Ireland. No patent was ever enrolled

Evelyn's Diary. 04 Jul 1666. The solemn Fast-day. Dr. Meggot preached an excellent discourse before the King (age 36) on the terrors of God's judgments. After sermon, I waited on my Lord Archbishop of Canterbury (age 49) and Bishop of Winchester (age 47), where the Dean of Westminster (age 31) spoke to me about putting into my hands the disposal of fifty pounds, which the charitable people of Oxford had sent to be distributed among the sick and wounded seamen since the battle. Hence, I went to the Lord Chancellor's (age 57) to joy him of his [his father] Royal Highness's (age 32) second son, now born at St. James's [Map]; and to desire the use of the Star-chamber for our Commissioners to meet in, Painters' Hall, Queenhithe not being so convenient.

On 04 Jul 1666 Charles Stewart 1st Duke Kendal was born to James Duke of York (age 32) and Anne Hyde Duchess of York (age 29) at St James's Palace [Map].

Pepy's Diary. 11 Jul 1666. Up, and by water to Sir G. Downing's (age 41), there to discourse with him about the reliefe of the prisoners in Holland; which I did, and we do resolve of the manner of sending them some. So I away by coach to St. James's, and there hear that the [his mother] Duchesse (age 29) is lately brought to bed of a boy.

On 22 May 1667 Charles Stewart 1st Duke Kendal died. Duke Kendal extinct.

Pepy's Diary. 23 May 1667. This day I hear also that last night the Duke of Kendall (deceased), second son of the Duke of York (age 33), did die; and that the other, [his brother] Duke of Cambridge (age 3), continues very ill still. This afternoon I had opportunity para jouer with Mrs. Pen (age 16), tokendo her mammailles and baisando elle, being sola in the casa of her pater, and she fort willing.

On 20 Sep 1673 [his father] King James II of England Scotland and Ireland (age 39) and [his step-mother] Mary of Modena Queen Consort England Scotland and Ireland (age 14) were married. The difference in their ages was 24 years. He the son of King Charles I of England, Scotland and Ireland and Henrietta Maria Bourbon Queen Consort England.
