Twenty Trees Photography

Photography by Chris Smith

Dawn Holmes

Dawn is an established local artist whose studio is on Church Street, opposite my house. Sometime ago, as an experiment, I printed a photograph of one of Dawn's paintings onto canvas. The results were remarkable. The reproduction is difficult to tell from the original; even the texture of the paint is reproduced since the little shadows under the paint are captured, and suggest depth in the reproduction. We now copy Dawn's work as a matter of course, especially commissions, where we can produce copies of her portraits; Mum and Dad keep the original, grandparents have copies. Another benefit is that we can print to any size, to fit with people's needs.

Andy Brooks

Andy Brooks, a good friend of mine, is Hayfield born and bred. An amateur photographer, he has a keen eye for landscape. His work has been exhibited in Hayfield, and is on display in the Pack Horse. In December 2009, his picture 'Twenty Trees in the Snow' won first prize in the prestigious Digital Camera Magazine competion.
