Biography of John Mordaunt 1709-1767

Paternal Family Tree: Mordaunt

In 1708 [his father] John Mordaunt (age 27) and [his mother] Frances Powlett were married. She the daughter of Charles Paulet 2nd Duke Bolton (age 47) and Frances Ramsden. He the son of Charles Mordaunt 3rd Earl Peterborough 1st Earl Monmouth (age 50) and Carey Fraser Countess Peterborough and Monmouth (age 48). They were fourth cousins.

Around 1709 John Mordaunt was born to John Mordaunt (age 28) and Frances Powlett.

On 05 Apr 1710 [his father] John Mordaunt (age 29) died.

In 1715 [his mother] Frances Powlett died.

She by marriage Countess Pembroke, Countess Montgomery. He the son of Philip Herbert 5th Earl Pembroke 2nd Earl Montgomery and Catherine Villiers Countess Pembroke and Montgomery.

On 29 May 1725 Thomas Page and [his future sister-in-law] Judith Howe were married. There was no issue from the marriage.

In Nov 1735 John Mordaunt (age 26) and Mary Howe Countess Pembroke and Montgomery were married. They were second cousin once removed.

In 1739 John Mordaunt (age 30) was elected MP Nottinghamshire.

Battle of Culloden

                    On 16 Apr 1746 an English army commanded by William Augustus Hanover 1st Duke Cumberland (age 24) and John Mordaunt (age 37) defeated the Scottish army of Charles Edward "Bonnie Prince Charlie" Stewart (age 25) at the Battle of Culloden bring to an end the Jacobite Rising of 1745.                

                    Bluett Wallop (age 19) fought.                

                    Robert Kerr was killed.
                
                    William Boyd 4th Earl Kilmarnock (age 40) was captured.
                
                    Alexander Bannerman 3rd Baronet fought and escapted to France where he died a year later.

In 1747 John Mordaunt (age 38) was elected MP Winchelsea.

On 12 Sep 1749 [his wife] Mary Howe Countess Pembroke and Montgomery died.

On 12 Sep 1749 John Mordaunt (age 40) and Elizabeth Hamilton Baroness Dormer were married.

In 1754 John Mordaunt (age 45) was elected MP Christchurch.

On 01 Jul 1767 John Mordaunt (age 58) died.

On 23 Jan 1768 Charles Dormer 8th Baron Dormer (age 42) and [his former wife] Elizabeth Hamilton Baroness Dormer were married.
