She, apparently, proposed he be made Earl of Wiltshire. He refused saying ... "Madam, as you did not count me worthy of this honour in life, then I shall account myself not worthy of it in death". His son [her brother] George Carey 2nd Baron Hunsdon (age 49) succeeded 2nd Baron Hunsdon. Elizabeth Spencer Baroness Hunsdon and Eure (age 44) by marriage Baroness Hunsdon.
On 07 Feb 1597 [her son] William Howard 3rd Baron Howard of Effingham (age 19) and [her daughter-in-law] Anne St John Lady Effingham (age 22) were married. He the son of Charles Howard 1st Earl Nottingham (age 61) and Katherine Carey Countess Nottingham (age 47). They were third cousins.
