Malcolm III King Scotland (age 62) was killed at The Peth Alnwick [Map]. His son Duncan II King Scotland (age 33) succeeded II King Scotland. He died a year minus day later.

Malcolm's son Edward Dunkeld was killed.

Duncan II King Scotland: Around 1060 he was born to Malcolm III King Scotland (age 28) and Ingibiorg Finnsdottir Queen Consort Scotland. On 12 Nov 1094 Duncan II King Scotland (age 34) died. His uncle Donald "The Fair White" III King Scotland (age 62) succeeded III King Scotland.

Edward Dunkeld: He was born to Malcolm III King Scotland and Margaret Wessex Queen Consort Scotland. On 16 Nov 1093 Margaret Wessex Queen Consort Scotland (age 48) died three days after her husband Malcolm III King Scotland (deceased) and her son Edward Dunkeld were killed at the Battle of Alnwick.

On 13 Jul 1174 a small army commanded by Ranulf Glanville (age 62) with Hugh de Kevelioc Gernon 5th Earl Chester (age 27) surprised William "Lion" I King Scotland 1143-1214's army in a dawn raid known as the Battle of Alnwick near Alnwick [Map]. William "Lion" I King Scotland (age 31) was captured and imprisoned initially in Newcastle on Tyne Castle [Map]. He was subsequently moved to the more remote, and secure, Falaise Castle [Map].

On 12 Jul 1245 William Percy 6th Baron Percy Topcliffe (age 48) died at Alnwick [Map]. He was buried at Fountains Abbey [Map]. His son Henry Percy 7th Baron Percy Topcliffe succeeded 7th Baron Percy of Topcliffe.

In 1362 Mary Plantagenet Baroness Percy (age 42) died at Alnwick [Map].

On 24 Aug 1365 Idonia Clifford Baroness Percy (age 62) died at Alnwick [Map].

On 14 Sep 1459 Henry Fenwick (age 57) died at Alnwick [Map].

The River Aln rises near Alnham [Map] from where it flows past Whittingham [Map], Bolton [Map], Hulne Priory [Map] then passing around Alnwick Castle [Map] before passing Lesbury [Map] then at Alnwick [Map] it joins the North Sea.

Alnwick Abbey [Map] was a Premonstratensian Abbey founded in 1147 by Eustace fitz John as a daughter house of Newhouse Abbey in Lincolnshire. It was disolved in 1535, refounded in 1536 and finally suppressed in 1539.

In 1289 John Vesci died without issue. He was buried at Alnwick Abbey [Map]. William Vesci succeeded to his estates.

On 18 May 1368 Henry Percy 11th and 3rd Baron Percy (age 47) died at Alnwick Castle [Map]. He was buried at Alnwick Abbey [Map]. His son Henry Percy 1st Earl of Northumberland (age 26) succeeded 4th Baron Percy of Alnwick, 12th Baron Percy of Topcliffe. Margaret Neville (age 39) by marriage Baroness Percy of Alnwick.
