In 1670 Barbara Villiers 1st Duchess of Cleveland (age 29) was created 1st Duke Cleveland, 1st Earl of Southampton and 1st Baron Nonsuch by King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland (age 39) for having given birth to five of his illegitimate children.
On 09 Oct 1709 Barbara Villiers 1st Duchess of Cleveland (age 68) died at Chiswick Mall. Her son Charles Fitzroy 1st Duke Southampton 2nd Duke Cleveland (age 47) succeeded 2nd Duke Cleveland, 2nd Earl of Southampton and 2nd Baron Nonsuch. Anne Pulteney Duchess Southampton Duchess of Cleveland (age 45) by marriage Duchess Cleveland.
On 09 Sep 1730 Charles Fitzroy 1st Duke Southampton 2nd Duke Cleveland (age 68) died. He was buried in the Duke of Ormonde Vault, King Henry VII Chapel, Westminster Abbey. His son William Fitzroy 3rd Duke Cleveland 2nd Duke Southampton (age 32) succeeded 3rd Duke Cleveland, 2nd Duke Southampton, 3rd Earl of Southampton, 2nd Earl Chichester, 3rd Baron Nonsuch and 2nd Baron Newbury.
In 1731 William Fitzroy 3rd Duke Cleveland 2nd Duke Southampton (age 32) and Henrietta Finch Duchess of Cleveland Duchess Southampton (age 29) were married. She by marriage Duchess Cleveland, Duchess Southampton. She the daughter of Daniel Finch 2nd Earl Nottingham 7th Earl Winchilsea and Anne Hatton Countess Nottingham and Winchelsea. He the son of Charles Fitzroy 1st Duke Southampton 2nd Duke Cleveland and Anne Pulteney Duchess Southampton Duchess of Cleveland (age 67). He a grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.
On 18 May 1774 William Fitzroy 3rd Duke Cleveland 2nd Duke Southampton (age 76) died. Duke Cleveland, Duke Southampton, Earl of Southampton, Earl Chichester, Baron Nonsuch and Baron Newbury extinct.

The King has also been pleased to direct letters patent to be passed under the Great Seal, for granting the dignities of Baron and Duke of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, unto William Harry Marquess of Cleveland (age 66), and the heirs male of his body lawfully begbtten, by the names, stiles, and titles of Baron Raby, of Raby-castle, in the county of Durham, and Duke of Cleveland.
The King has also been pleased to direct letters patent to be passed under the Grent Seal, granting the dignity of a Baron of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, unto Charles Callis Western (age 65), Esq. and the heirs male of his body lawfully begotten, by the name, stile, and title of Baron Western, of Rivenhall, in the county of Essex.
On 28 Jan 1842 William Henry Vane 1st Duke Cleveland (age 75) died. He was buried at St Mary's Church, Staindrop [Map]. His son Henry Vane 2nd Duke Cleveland (age 54) succeeded 2nd Duke of Cleveland, 2nd Marquess of Cleveland, 4th Earl Darlington, 4th Viscount Barnard, 6th Baron Barnard, 2nd Baron Raby of Raby Castle in County Durham. Sophia Paulett Duchess of Cleveland (age 56) by marriage Duchess of Cleveland.
On 18 Jan 1864 Henry Vane 2nd Duke Cleveland (age 76) died at the parish of St George's Church, Hanover Square. His brother William Vane 3rd Duke Cleveland (age 71) succeeded 3rd Duke of Cleveland, 3rd Marquess of Cleveland, 5th Earl Darlington, 5th Viscount Barnard, 7th Baron Barnard, 3rd Baron Raby of Raby Castle in County Durham. On 06 Sep 1864 William Vane 3rd Duke Cleveland (age 72) died. On 21 Aug 1891 Harry George Powlett 4th Duke Cleveland (age 88) died at Cleveland House, 16 St James' Square, St James'.
