This passage would seem to countenance the common account that the infant prince was almost immediately invested with these titles, whereas he himself tells us in his journal that he was only about to be created so when his father died, in which he is confirmed by Burnet, who says that Edward was called Prince of Wales, as the heirs to this crown are, yet he was not invested with that dignity by a formal creation.

In 1559 Edward Seymour 1st Earl Hertford 1539-1621 (19) was created 1st Earl Hertford 3C 1559, 1st Baron Beauchamp of Hatch Beauchamp in Somerset.
In 1582 Edward Seymour 1st Earl Hertford 1539-1621 (42) and Frances Howard Countess Hertford 1554-1598 (28) were married. He a great x 5 grandson of King Edward III England. She by marriage Countess Hertford.
On 27 May 1601 Edward Seymour 1st Earl Hertford 1539-1621 (62) and Frances Howard Duchess Lennox Duchess Richmond 1578-1639 (22) were married. They were half third cousins. He a great x 5 grandson of King Edward III England. She by marriage Countess Hertford.
On 06 Apr 1621 Edward Seymour 1st Earl Hertford 1539-1621 (81) died. He was buried at Salisbury Cathedral. His grandson William Seymour 2nd Duke Somerset 1588-1660 (33) succeeded 2nd Earl Hertford 3C 1559. Frances Devereux Duchess of Somerset 1599-1674 (21) by marriage Countess Hertford. On 26 Jan 1568 Catherine Grey Countess Hertford 1540-1568 (27) died at Cockfield Hall Yoxford. She placed higher than her husband given her Royal descent.
