Biography of Bishop James Bowstead 1801-1843

In 1801 Bishop James Bowstead was born. He was educated at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University where he received BA in 1824 and DD in 1834.

In 1837 Bishop James Bowstead (age 36) was appointed Rector of All Saints Church Rettendon.

On 13 Jul 1838 Bishop James Bowstead (age 37) was elected Bishop of Sodor and Man by Queen Victoria (age 19).

On 22 Jul 1838 Bishop James Bowstead (age 37) was consecrated Bishop of Sodor and Man by Archbishop William Howley (age 72).

On 23 Jan 1840 Bishop James Bowstead (age 39) was translated to Bishop of Lichfield.
