Biography of Edward Kerrison 1st Baronet 1776-1853

Before 30 Jul 1776 [his father] Matthias Kerrison (age 34) and [his mother] Mary Barnes were married.

On 30 Jul 1776 Edward Kerrison 1st Baronet was born to Matthias Kerrison (age 34) and Mary Barnes at his parents home Hoxne Hall.

On 30 Oct 1809 [his future brother-in-law] Edward Ellice (age 26) and Hannah Althea Grey (age 24) were married. She the daughter of Charles Grey 1st Earl Grey and Elizabeth Grey Countess Grey (age 65).

On 20 Oct 1810 Edward Kerrison 1st Baronet (age 34) and Mary Martha Ellice were married at St George's Church, Hanover Square.

On 10 Dec 1814 [his brother-in-law] Robert Charles Ellice (age 30) and Eliza Courtenay (age 22) were married. She the illegitmate daughter of Charles Grey 2nd Earl Grey (age 50) and Georgiana Spencer Duchess Devonshire.

Battle of Waterloo

On 18 Jun 1815 the Battle of Waterloo was fought.

Beaumont Hotham 3rd Baron Hotham (age 20) was present.

Charles Augustus Fitzroy (age 19) was wounded.

Lieutenant-Colonel Henry Edward Irby (age 31) fought.

Henry William Paget 1st Marquess Anglesey (age 47) led the charge of the British heavy cavalry against Comte d'Erlon's column which checked and in part routed the French Army. He was hit by one of the last cannon shots of the day necessitating the amputation of this leg during the Battle of Quatre Bras.

Fletcher Norton 3rd Baron Grantley (age 16) fought and was wounded.

Charles Francis Rowley Lascelles fought.

Edward Kerrison 1st Baronet (age 38) commanded his Regiment.

George Orlando Gunning (age 18) was killed whilst serving as a Lieutenant in the 10th Hussars.

On 19 Jun 1815 Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Gordon (age 29) died having had his leg amputated the previous day.

On 02 Jan 1821 [his son] Edward Kerrison 2nd Baronet was born to Edward Kerrison 1st Baronet (age 44) and [his wife] Mary Martha Ellice at Wick House, Brighton.

In 1834 [his son-in-law] Philip Stanhope 5th Earl Stanhope (age 28) and [his daughter] Emily Harriet Countess Stanhope were married. He the son of Philip Henry Stanhope 4th Earl Stanhope (age 52) and Catherine Lucy Smith Countess Stanhope.

In 1836 [his son-in-law] John Henniker-Major 4th Baron Henniker (age 34) and [his daughter] Anna Kerrison were married.

On 23 Jul 1844 [his son] Edward Kerrison 2nd Baronet (age 23) and [his daughter-in-law] Caroline Margaret Fox-Strangways Lady Kerrison (age 25) were married. There was no issue from the marriage. She the daughter of Henry Fox-Strangways 3rd Earl of Ilchester (age 57) and Caroline Leonora Murray Countess Ilchester.

Before 1852 Edward Kerrison 1st Baronet (age 75) was elected MP Eye.

On 09 Mar 1853 Edward Kerrison 1st Baronet (age 76) died. His son [his son] Edward Kerrison 2nd Baronet (age 32) succeeded 2nd Baronet Kerrison of Wyke-House in Sussex. [his daughter-in-law] Caroline Margaret Fox-Strangways Lady Kerrison (age 34) by marriage Lady Kerrison of Wyke-House in Sussex.
