Biography of John Gostwick 1480-1545

Around 1480 John Gostwick was born to John Gostwick of Willington in Bedfordshire.

Around 1510 John Gostwick (age 30) was appointed Gentleman Usher to King Henry VIII of England and Ireland (age 18).

In 1529 John Gostwick (age 49) bought Willington Manor from Thomas Howard 3rd Duke of Norfolk (age 56).

In 1538 John Gostwick (age 58) was one of the judges who sentenced the Robert Hobbes, Abbot of Woburn, to be hanged for refusing to sign the Oath of Supremacy.

In 1539 John Gostwick (age 59) was elected Knight of the Shire Bedfordshire.

On 15 Apr 1545 John Gostwick (age 65) died. He was buried at St Michael's Church, Willington.
