Note 1. Her name was originally Aldridge. Lady Slingsby was a favourite actress at the Theatre Royal, and was for some years known as Mrs. Lee. She probably married Sir Henry Slingsby, Bart., M.P. for Knaresborough.

Note 1. Jonathan Wild was executed at Tyburn [Map], May 24th, 1725. About two o'clock on the following morning his remains were interred in this grave-yard, but a few nights afterwards the body was taken up, for the use of the surgeons, as it was supposed. At midnight a hearse and six was waiting at the end of Fig Lane, where the coffin was found next day.

On or before 17 Apr 1728 Thomas Adams 6th Baronet was born to Robert Adams 5th Baronet (age 67). He was baptised on 17 Apr 1728 at St Pancras Old Church.

She finished her Course on the 25th of July,.A.D. 1731, and the 26th Year of her Age. Her disconsolate Husband erected this Monument Of her uncommon Merit and his irreparable Loss.

Here lies the Body of the Honble Esme Howard, of Norfolk, youngest son of Henry, late Earl of Arundel and Surry, and youngest brother to Henry, late Duke of Norfolk, the grandfather to the present Duke of Norfolk (age 49), who departed this life the 14 of June 1728 in the 83rd year of his age. Requiescat in pace. Amen.                

                    Near this place lies the Body of Margaret the entirely beloved wife of the Honble Esme Howard, of Norfolk, who departed this life the 11th of Jany 1716, in the 70th year of her age. Requiescat in pace. Amen.
                
                    Here also lieth the Body of the Honble Eliz. Howard (deceased), of Norfolk, daughter of the above Honble Esme & Margaret Howard, Who died Feby the 26th 1736, aged 61. Requiescat in pace. Amen.

Here lyeth deposited in this vault the remains of the late Hon^ble Lady Barbara Webb, Wife of S^r John Webb (age 85), of Great Canford, in the county of Dorset, Baronet Who departed this life on the 28^th day of March, in the year of our Lord 1740. This pious lady was the surviving daughter and sole Heiress of the late Right Hon^ble John, Lord Belasyse, by his third wife the Lady Ann Powlett, Daughter of the Right Noble John, Marquiss of Winchester, who to avoid the expense and vanity of a pompous funeral in her family vault made it her death bed request in compassion to the poor to be privately interred in this churchyard & that the repose of her soul may be remembered by all good Christians. This tomb was erected by her disconsolate husband. Requiescat in pace. Amen.

Note 1. He performed his devotions in his own way, and, being executed, his body was carried to St. Giles's, and soon afterwards buried in this churchyard by some of his Roman Catholic friends.

In Memory of the Hon^ble Thomas Arundell, Count of the most Sacred Roman Empire, & uncle to the present Lord Arundell of Wardour Castle (age 28): An affectionate, indulgent Husband, a Faithful Friend, exact paymaster, and always ready to serve the poor. He died 6^th April, 1753, Aged 56. Requiescat in Pace. Amen.

Rowland Belasyse, Who departed this life Ap^l y^e 9^th 1768 aged 65. He was only Brother to the present Earl of Fauconberg (age 68). Here lies the Body of Mary Clare Lady Gerard (deceased), who departed this life in the 43 year of her age October the 27^th 1768 She was Daughter and sole Heiress of Henry Tasbourgh, Esq., and July 2^nd 1749 married S^r Thomas Gerard, of Byn in Lancashire, baronet By whom she left issue three daughters Elizabeth, Catherine, and Mary Requiescat in pace.

John Williams, Linen Draper, of Oswestry, Salop, Who fell a victim to the Cholera on the 11^th July, 1832, in the 28^th year of his age. He was a kind and affectionate husband, and tender Father, and his Memory will be long cherished by all who knew him. Kind angels, watch this sleeping dust, Till Jesus comes to raise the just. May he awake in sweet surprise, And in his Saviour's image rise.

On 1834 Eliza Hastie was born to Benjamin Hastie. She was baptised on 10 Aug 1834 at St Pancras Old Church.

Cansisk's Monumental Inscriptions Volume 1 Old St Pancras Churchyard. Churchyard St Pancras Old Church. Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin, Author of A Vindication of the Rights of Woman; Born 27^th April 1759: Died 10^th September, 1797.¹

William Godwin, Author of Political Justice. Born March 3^rd 1756: Died April 7^th 1836, Aged 80 years.

Mary Jane (deceased), Second Wife of William Godwin, Died June I7^th 1841, Aged 75 years.

Note 1. This well-known writer was bom in 1759. The place of her birth is uncertain, but is supposed to have been at a farm in Epping Forest. At an early age she engaged herself in the occupation of tuition, for which she was eminently qualified. Unhappily, her sentiments on religious subjects were most exceptional, and she had imbibed principles hostile to that system which has been long established for the regulation of civil society. It was well, therefore, that after a few years she declined the employment of tuition, and confined herself to her pen. Having a contempt for the institution of marriage, she entered into a connection with Mr. Imlay, an American merchant, whom she met at Paris in 1792, and made with him a tour in the north of Europe, of which she gave an account in an interesting volume of letters in 1796. In consequence of the desertion of this gentleman, she resolved upon destroying herself (having failed in the attempt a few months before) ; she went by water from London Bridge to Putney, and deliberately jumped off Putney Bridge in the month of October, 1795. She was baffled in her attempt this time ; her clothes having buoyed her up, she was rescued 'by some watermen. In July, 1796, Mrs. Wollstonecraft took a house at Somers Town, in the parish of St. Pancras, not long after which she formed a connection with the well-known author of "Political Justice," &c. Their sentiments were perfectly in unison, and they both had so thorough a contempt for the rite of marriage, that it was only in consequence of her pregnancy, and the apprehension that she might incur that exclusion from the society of many valuable and esteemed friends which custom awards ip cases of this kind, that they were induced to comply with that ceremony. In April, 1797, Mr. and Mrs. Godwin took a house in the Polygon, Somers Town, where on the 10th of September following Mrs. Godwin died, eleven days after having given birth to a daughter. She was the mother of the future wife of Percy Bysshe Shelley, the poet.

On 02 Dec 1845 Robert James Graham 10th Baronet was born to Edward Graham 9th Baronet (age 25). He was baptised on 31 Dec 1845 at St Pancras Old Church.

On 09 Mar 1850 William Hamo Thornycroft was born to Thomas Thornycroft (age 34). He was baptised on 09 Jun 1850 at St Pancras Old Church.

On 28 May 1853 Frederick Sandys (age 24) and Georgiana Creed (age 28) were married at St Pancras Old Church. He the son of Anthony Sands (age 47) and Mary Ann Brown.

Elizabeth, Countess of Castlehaven, Wife of the late James Touchet, Earl of Castlehaven, Baron of Orier, Baron Audley of Heleigh in the County of Stafford. Her Ladyship was daughter to Henry Lord Arundell, of Wardour Castle, in the County of Wilts. She dyed June 24^th 1743, aged 52.
