Around 1538 John Sheffield 2nd Baron Sheffield was born to Edmund Sheffield 1st Baron Sheffield (age 16) and Anne Vere Baroness Sheffield (age 16).

Kett's Rebellion

On 19 Jul 1549 [his father] Edmund Sheffield 1st Baron Sheffield (age 27) was killed at Cathedral Close, Norwich Cathedral [Map] during Kett's Rebellion. His son John Sheffield 2nd Baron Sheffield (age 11) succeeded 2nd Baron Sheffield of Butterwick in Lincolnshire.

By the Lady Margaret Strainge (age 22), a little round mounte of golde to conteyne a pomaunder in it. With the Qene her Majestie. Note. Lady Margaret Strange married Henry Stanley Lord Strange (age 30) on 07 Feb 1555. In 1561 he had not succeeded to Earldom of Derby and was known by the courtesy title Lord Strange. She is listed first since she was one of the few remaining direct descendants of Henry VII, being a great-granddaughter by his daughter Mary Tudor. Margaret Clifford was first in line to succeed in 1568 but died in 1596 before Elizabeth I.

On 07 Dec 1565 [his son] Edmund Sheffield 1st Earl Mulgrave was born to John Sheffield 2nd Baron Sheffield (age 27) and [his wife] Douglas Howard Baroness Sheffield (age 23).

On 10 Dec 1568 John Sheffield 2nd Baron Sheffield (age 30) died. His son [his son] Edmund Sheffield 1st Earl Mulgrave (age 3) succeeded 3rd Baron Sheffield of Butterwick in Lincolnshire.

On 29 Nov 1597 Edward Stafford (age 45) and [his former wife] Douglas Howard Baroness Sheffield (age 55) were married. They were fourth cousins.

In 1608 [his former wife] Douglas Howard Baroness Sheffield (age 66) died.
