On 11 Dec 1796 Richard William Penn Curzon Howe 1st Earl Howe was born to Penn Curzon and Sophia Howe 2nd Baroness Howe.

On 05 Aug 1799 [his grandfather] Richard Howe 1st Earl Howe (age 73) died. Earl Howe and Viscount Howe extinct. His daughter [his mother] Sophia Howe 2nd Baroness Howe succeeded 2nd Baroness Howe. His brother William Howe 5th Viscount Howe (age 69) succeeded 5th Viscount Howe, 5th Baron Glenawley. Frances Conolly Viscountess Howe by marriage Viscountess Howe.

In 1835 [his mother] Sophia Howe 2nd Baroness Howe died. Her son Richard William Penn Curzon Howe 1st Earl Howe (age 38) succeeded 3rd Baron Howe. [his wife] Harriet Georgiana Brudenell Countess Howe (age 36) by marriage Baroness Howe.

In 1835 [his daughter] Adelaide Ida Curzon Howe Countess of Westmoreland was born to Richard William Penn Curzon Howe 1st Earl Howe (age 38) and [his wife] Harriet Georgiana Brudenell Countess Howe (age 36).

Adeline Horsey Recollections. When we left Bretby, we posted to Lord Howe's at Gopsall, twenty miles away, where we found another large party. Lord Howe (age 47) had married [his former brother-in-law] Lord Cardigan's (age 46) [his former wife] sister, and his three daughters were named, not after his or her relatives, but after three of his former loves; Lady Georgina Fane (age 42), Queen Adelaide (age 51), and Emily Bagot. A propos of Lord Howe's affection for the Queen Dowager, the story goes that when some malicious scandal-mongers circulated a rumour that she had had a child by him, everybody exclaimed, "Lord ! How(e) can it be? ".

On 03 Jul 1845 [his son-in-law] Henry Charles Fitzroy Somerset 8th Duke Beaufort (age 21) and [his daughter] Georgiana Charlotte Curzon Howe Duchess Beaufort (age 20) were married. She the daughter of Richard William Penn Curzon Howe 1st Earl Howe (age 48) and [his former wife] Harriet Georgiana Brudenell Countess Howe. He the son of Henry Somerset 7th Duke Beaufort (age 53) and Emily Frances Smith Duchess Beaufort (age 45). They were fourth cousins.

On 09 Oct 1845 Richard William Penn Curzon Howe 1st Earl Howe (age 48) and Anne Gore Countess Howe were married. She by marriage Countess Howe.

On 21 Sep 1846 [his son] Montagu Curzon was born to Richard William Penn Curzon Howe 1st Earl Howe (age 49) and [his wife] Anne Gore Countess Howe.

In 1848 [his daughter] Mary Anna Curzon Howe Duchess Abercorn was born to Richard William Penn Curzon Howe 1st Earl Howe (age 51) and [his wife] Anne Gore Countess Howe.

In 1850 [his son] Assheton Curzon Howe was born to Richard William Penn Curzon Howe 1st Earl Howe (age 53) and [his wife] Anne Gore Countess Howe.

In 1856 [his son-in-law] Colonel Robert Nigel Fitzhardinge Kingscote (age 25) and [his daughter] Emily Mary Curzon Howe (age 20) were married. They had two sons and two daughters. She the daughter of Richard William Penn Curzon Howe 1st Earl Howe (age 59) and [his former wife] Harriet Georgiana Brudenell Countess Howe. They were fourth cousins.

On 16 Jul 1857 [his son-in-law] Francis William Henry Fane 12th Earl of Westmoreland (age 31) and [his daughter] Adelaide Ida Curzon Howe Countess of Westmoreland (age 22) were married. She the daughter of Richard William Penn Curzon Howe 1st Earl Howe (age 60) and [his former wife] Harriet Georgiana Brudenell Countess Howe. He the son of John Fane 11th Earl of Westmoreland (age 73) and Priscilla Anne Wellesley-Pole Countess of Westmoreland (age 64).

On 08 Feb 1858 [his son] Richard William Penn Curzon Howe 3rd Earl Howe (age 35) and [his daughter-in-law] Isabella Maria Katherine Anson Countess Howe (age 26) were married. He the son of Richard William Penn Curzon Howe 1st Earl Howe (age 61) and [his former wife] Harriet Georgiana Brudenell Countess Howe.

On 20 Sep 1858 [his former brother-in-law] James Brudenell 7th Earl Cardigan (age 60) and Adeline Horsey Countess Cardigan (age 33) were married; she had been his mistress since 1857. She by marriage Countess Cardigan. The marriage something of a scandal since James Brudenell 7th Earl Cardigan had left his first wife; Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom (age 39) refused to have Adeline at court. The difference in their ages was 27 years. He the son of [his former father-in-law] Robert Brudenell 6th Earl Cardigan and [his former mother-in-law] Penelope Cooke Countess Cardigan.

On 22 May 1867 [his former sister-in-law] Mary Brudenell Countess Chichester (age 60) died.

Death of Lord Cardigan

On 28 Mar 1868 [his former brother-in-law] James Brudenell 7th Earl Cardigan (age 70) died from a fall from a horse. His second cousin George William Frederick Brudenell 2nd Marquess Ailesbury (age 63) succeeded 8th Earl Cardigan, 8th Baron Brudenell of Stonton in Leicestershire. Baron Brudenell Deene in Northamptonshire extinct.

On 25 May 1915 Adeline Horsey Countess Cardigan (age 90) died.

Both were buried in St Peter's Church, Deene [Map]; he on 09 Apr 1868. Monument to James Brudenell 7th Earl Cardigan 1797 1868 sculpted by Joseph Edgar Boehm (age 33). Recumbent effigies on Sarcophagus, bronze sea horses (Brudenell Crest) at the bottom corners.

In 1869 [his son-in-law] James Hamilton 2nd Duke of Abercorn (age 30) and [his daughter] Mary Anna Curzon Howe Duchess Abercorn (age 21) were married. She by marriage Duchess Abercorn. She the daughter of Richard William Penn Curzon Howe 1st Earl Howe (age 72) and [his wife] Anne Gore Countess Howe. He the son of James Hamilton 1st Duke of Abercorn (age 57) and Louisa Jane Russell Duchess Abercorn (age 56). He a great x 4 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.

On 12 May 1870 Richard William Penn Curzon Howe 1st Earl Howe (age 73) died. On 12 May 1870 His son [his son] George Augustus Frederick Louis Curzon Howe 2nd Earl Howe (age 49) succeeded 2nd Earl Howe, 3rd Viscount Curzon of Penn in Buckinghamshire, 7th Baronet Curzon of Kedleston in Derbyshire.
