On 14 Aug 1775 [his grandfather] Lynch Salusbury Cotton 4th Baronet (age 70) died. His son [his father] Robert Salusbury Cotton 5th Baronet (age 36) succeeded 5th Baronet Cotton of Combermere in Cheshire.
On 01 Jan 1801 Stapleton Cotton 1st Viscount Combermere (age 27) and Anna-Maria Clinton (age 17) were married. She the daughter of Thomas Pelham-Clinton 3rd Duke Newcastle-under-Lyme and Anna Maria Stanhope Countess Lincoln. She a great x 3 granddaughter of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.
On 31 May 1807 [his wife] Anna-Maria Clinton (age 23) died.
On 18 Jul 1807 [his former brother-in-law] Henry Pelham-Clinton 4th Duke Newcastle-under-Lyme (age 22) and Georgiana Elizabeth Miller Mundy Duchess Newcastle under Lyne (age 18) were married in Lambeth Palace [Map]. She by marriage Duchess Newcastle under Lyme. He the son of Thomas Pelham-Clinton 3rd Duke Newcastle-under-Lyme and [his former mother-in-law] Anna Maria Stanhope Countess Lincoln. He a great x 3 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.
On 24 Aug 1809 [his father] Robert Salusbury Cotton 5th Baronet (age 70) died. His son Stapleton Cotton 1st Viscount Combermere (age 35) succeeded 6th Baronet Cotton of Combermere in Cheshire.
On 11 Apr 1812 Major-General John Le Marchant (age 46) led the 5th Dragoon Guards in a perfectly timed flank charge, in echelon of squadrons, which defeated two strong columns of French cavalry under General Charles Lallemand. The French had been attacking British light cavalry under Sir Stapleton Cotton (age 38), who were being forced to give ground.
On 03 May 1814 Stapleton Cotton 1st Viscount Combermere (age 40) was created 1st Baron Combermere.
On 22 Jun 1814 Stapleton Cotton 1st Viscount Combermere (age 40) and Caroline Greville Viscountess Comberemere (age 25) were married. She by marriage Baroness Combermere.
In 1815 [his daughter] Caroline Stapleton-Cotton Marchioness Downshire was born to Stapleton Cotton 1st Viscount Combermere (age 41) and [his wife] Caroline Greville Viscountess Comberemere (age 26).
On 24 Nov 1818 [his son] Wellington Stapleton-Cotton 2nd Viscount Combermere was born to Stapleton Cotton 1st Viscount Combermere (age 45) and [his wife] Caroline Greville Viscountess Comberemere (age 29) at Duncombe House, St Thomas.
On 08 Feb 1827 Stapleton Cotton 1st Viscount Combermere (age 53) was created 1st Viscount Combermere. [his wife] Caroline Greville Viscountess Comberemere (age 38) by marriage Viscountess Combermere.
On 25 Jan 1837 [his wife] Caroline Greville Viscountess Comberemere (age 48) died.

In 1844 [his son] Wellington Stapleton-Cotton 2nd Viscount Combermere (age 25) and [his daughter-in-law] Susan Alice Sitwell were married.
On 12 Jan 1851 [his former brother-in-law] Henry Pelham-Clinton 4th Duke Newcastle-under-Lyme (age 65) died. His son Henry Pelham-Clinton 5th Duke Newcastle-under-Lyme (age 39) succeeded 5th Duke Newcastle under Lyme, 12th Earl Lincoln. Henry Pelham-Clinton 4th Duke Newcastle-under-Lyme: On 31 Jan 1785 he was born to Thomas Pelham-Clinton 3rd Duke Newcastle-under-Lyme and Anna Maria Stanhope Countess Lincoln in Walton, Northamptonshire. He a great x 3 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland. On 18 May 1795 Thomas Pelham-Clinton 3rd Duke Newcastle-under-Lyme died at Sunninghill, Berkshire. His son Henry Pelham-Clinton 4th Duke Newcastle-under-Lyme succeeded 4th Duke Newcastle under Lyme, 11th Earl Lincoln. On 18 Jul 1807 Henry Pelham-Clinton 4th Duke Newcastle-under-Lyme and Georgiana Elizabeth Miller Mundy Duchess Newcastle under Lyne were married in Lambeth Palace. Susan Harriet Catherine Hamilton Duchess Newcastle under Lyne: On 09 Jun 1814 she was born to Alexander Hamilton 10th Duke Hamilton 7th Duke Brandon and Susanna Euphemia Beckford Duchess Hamilton Duchess Brandon. On 27 Nov 1832 Henry Pelham-Clinton 5th Duke Newcastle-under-Lyme and she were married.
