Evelyn's Diary. 23 Jul 1668. At the Royal Society, were presented divers glossa petras, and other natural curiosities, found in digging to build the fort at Sheerness Isle of Sheppey [Map]. They were just the same as they bring from Malta, pretending them to be viper's teeth, whereas, in truth, they are of a shark, as we found by comparing them with one in our repository.
In Jun 1686 William Soame 1st Baronet (age 41) died in Malta. His first cousin once removed Peter Soame 2nd Baronet (age 52) succeeded 2nd Baronet Soame of Thurlow in Suffolk.

On 19 Jan 1849 Cecil Augutus Bisshopp 10th Baronet (age 27) died at Malta where he was buried. His brother Captain George Bisshopp 11th Baronet (age 25) succeeded 11th Baronet Bisshopp of Parham in Sussex.
On 04 Sep 1863 Robert Myddelton-Biddulph (age 20) died at Malta. He was buried at St Mary's Church, Chirk [Map].
On 29 Dec 1863 Lieutenant Mildmay Edward Fane was born to Francis Augustus Fane (age 38) and Augusta Fane (age 32) at Malta. Coefficient of inbreeding 6.25%.
In 1893 Francis Augustus Fane (age 68) died at Malta.
On 11 Nov 1916 George Francis Augustus Venables-Vernon 8th Baron Vernon (age 28) died at Malta. His brother Francis William Lawrance Venables-Vernon 9th Baron Vernon (age 27) succeeded 9th Baron Vernon of Kinderton in Cheshire.
