Arms is short for Armorials. Arms are borne by an Armiger. An Armiger is entitled to bear Arms. Such a person is said to be armigerous. The terms Blazon and Escutcheon also used. The expression Coat of Arms is specific to a coat; a tabard, or jupon, on which a Armiger's Armorials are shown. Coat of Arms is frequently used instead of Arms.
