In 1646 Mary Butler Duchess Devonshire was born to James Butler 1st Duke Ormonde (age 35) and Elizabeth Preston Duchess Ormonde (age 30).

On 26 Oct 1662 William Cavendish 1st Duke Devonshire (age 22) and Mary Butler Duchess Devonshire (age 16) were married. She the daughter of James Butler 1st Duke Ormonde (age 52) and Elizabeth Preston Duchess Ormonde (age 47). He the son of William Cavendish 3rd Earl Devonshire (age 45) and Elizabeth Cecil Countess Devonshire (age 43).

In 1670 [her daughter] Elizabeth Cavendish Lady Wentworth was born to [her husband] William Cavendish 1st Duke Devonshire (age 29) and Mary Butler Duchess Devonshire (age 24).

On 02 May 1670 John Cecil 5th Earl Exeter (age 22) and [her sister-in-law] Anne Cavendish Countess Exeter (age 21) were married. She the daughter of [her father-in-law] William Cavendish 3rd Earl Devonshire (age 52) and [her mother-in-law] Elizabeth Cecil Countess Devonshire (age 51). He the son of John Cecil 4th Earl Exeter (age 42) and Frances Manners Countess Exeter. They were half third cousin once removed.

Around 1672 [her son] William Cavendish 2nd Duke Devonshire was born to [her husband] William Cavendish 1st Duke Devonshire (age 31) and Mary Butler Duchess Devonshire (age 26).

In 1673 [her son] Henry Cavendish was born to [her husband] William Cavendish 1st Duke Devonshire (age 32) and Mary Butler Duchess Devonshire (age 27) at Nice, France.

In Feb 1678 John Cecil 4th Earl Exeter (age 50) died. His son John Cecil 5th Earl Exeter (age 30) succeeded 5th Earl Exeter, 6th Baron Burghley. [her sister-in-law] Anne Cavendish Countess Exeter (age 29) by marriage Countess Exeter.

On 23 Nov 1684 [her father-in-law] William Cavendish 3rd Earl Devonshire (age 67) died at his house in Roehampton, Surrey. He was buried in the Henry VII Chapel in Westminster Abbey [Map]. His son [her husband] William Cavendish 1st Duke Devonshire (age 44) succeeded 4th Earl Devonshire, 4th Baron Cavendish Hardwick. Evelyn's Diary. 23 Jan 1686. I din'd at my Lady Arlington's (age 52), groome of the stole to the Queene Dowager (age 47), at Somerset House [Map], where din'd the Countesses of Devonshire (age 40), Dover (age 76), &c. in all 11 ladys of quality, no man but myselfe being there.

On 21 Jun 1688 [her son] William Cavendish 2nd Duke Devonshire (age 16) and [her daughter-in-law] Rachel Russell Duchess Devonshire (age 14) were married. He the son of [her husband] William Cavendish 1st Duke Devonshire (age 48) and Mary Butler Duchess Devonshire (age 42). They were half third cousins.

Invitation to William of Orange from the Immortal Seven

In 1694 [her husband] William Cavendish 1st Duke Devonshire (age 53) was created 1st Duke Devonshire by King William III of England, Scotland and Ireland (age 43) in recognition of William Cavendish 1st Duke Devonshire 1640-1707's support of the Glorious Revolution he having been one of the signatories of the Invitation to William of Orange from the Immortal Seven. Mary Butler Duchess Devonshire (age 48) by marriage Duchess Devonshire.

On 03 Aug 1696 [her son] Henry Cavendish (age 23) and [her daughter-in-law] Rhoda Cartright were married. He the son of [her husband] William Cavendish 1st Duke Devonshire (age 56) and Mary Butler Duchess Devonshire (age 50). They were third cousin once removed.

In 1704 [her sister-in-law] Anne Cavendish Countess Exeter (age 55) died.

In or before 1706 [her son] James Cavendish was born to [her husband] William Cavendish 1st Duke Devonshire (age 65) and Mary Butler Duchess Devonshire (age 59).

On 18 Aug 1707 [her husband] William Cavendish 1st Duke Devonshire (age 67) died. His son [her son] William Cavendish 2nd Duke Devonshire (age 35) succeeded 2nd Duke Devonshire, 5th Earl Devonshire, 5th Baron Cavendish Hardwick. [her daughter-in-law] Rachel Russell Duchess Devonshire (age 33) by marriage Duchess Devonshire.

Before 1710 [her son-in-law] John Wentworth 1st Baronet (age 36) and [her daughter] Elizabeth Cavendish Lady Wentworth (age 39) were married. She by marriage Lady Wentworth of North Emstal. She the daughter of [her former husband] William Cavendish 1st Duke Devonshire and Mary Butler Duchess Devonshire (age 63).

In 1710 Mary Butler Duchess Devonshire (age 64) died. She was buried in the Duke of Ormonde Vault, King Henry VII Chapel, Westminster Abbey with her parents.
