Bishop James Bowstead 1801-1843

In 1801 Bishop James Bowstead was born. He was educated at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University where he received BA in 1824 and DD in 1834.

In 1837 Bishop James Bowstead [aged 36] was appointed Rector of All Saints Church, Rettendon.

On 13th July 1838 Bishop James Bowstead [aged 37] was elected Bishop of Sodor and Man by Queen Victoria [aged 19].

On 22nd July 1838 Bishop James Bowstead [aged 37] was consecrated Bishop of Sodor and Man by Archbishop William Howley [aged 72].

On 23rd January 1840 Bishop James Bowstead [aged 39] was translated to Bishop of Lichfield.
