Note 1. He was a great-grandson of Charlotte Elizabeth Abdy, sister of Anthony Thomas Abdy 5th Baronet, the last of the Baronets Abdy of Felix Hall in Essex.
On 26th May 1877 James Phillips Kay-Shuttleworth 1st Baronet [aged 72] died. His son Ughtred [aged 32] succeeded 2nd Baronet Kay-Shuttleworth of Gawthorpe Hall in Lancashire.
On 20th December 1939 Ughtred Kay-Shuttleworth 1st Baron Shuttleworth [aged 95] died. His grandson Richard [aged 26] succeeded 2nd Baron Shuttleworth of Gawthorpe in Lancashire, Richard Kay-Shuttleworth 2nd Baron Shuttleworth, 3rd Baronet Kay-Shuttleworth of Gawthorpe Hall in Lancashire.
On 8th August 1940 Richard Kay-Shuttleworth 2nd Baron Shuttleworth [aged 26] was killed in action when his Hawker Hurricane went missing during a battle over a convoy in the English Channel, south of the Isle of Wight. He was a Flying Officer with 145 Sqdn. Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve; Service No: 70356. His brother Ronald [aged 22] succeeded 3rd Baron Shuttleworth of Gawthorpe in Lancashire, 4th Baronet Kay-Shuttleworth of Gawthorpe Hall in Lancashire.
On 17th November 1942 Ronald Kay-Shuttleworth 3rd Baron Shuttleworth [aged 25] was killed in action. He was buried at the Tabarka Ras Rajel War Cemetery, Tabarka, Jandūbah, Tunisia. His half first cousin Charles [aged 25] succeeded 4th Baron Shuttleworth of Gawthorpe in Lancashire, 5th Baronet Kay-Shuttleworth of Gawthorpe Hall in Lancashire.
On 5th October 1975 Charles Kay-Shuttleworth 4th Baron Shuttleworth [aged 58] died. His son Charles [aged 27] succeeded 5th Baron Shuttleworth of Gawthorpe in Lancashire, 6th Baronet Kay-Shuttleworth of Gawthorpe Hall in Lancashire.
