In 1663 George Downing 1st Baronet [aged 38] was created 1st Baronet Downing of East Hatley in Cambridgeshire. Frances Howard Lady Downing [aged 30] by marriage Lady Downing of East Hatley in Cambridgeshire.

Around 19th July 1684 George Downing 1st Baronet [aged 59] died. His son George [aged 28] succeeded 2nd Baronet Downing of East Hatley in Cambridgeshire. Catherine Cecil Lady Downing by marriage Lady Downing of East Hatley in Cambridgeshire.

In June 1711 George Downing 2nd Baronet [aged 55] died. His son George [aged 25] succeeded 3rd Baronet Downing of East Hatley in Cambridgeshire. Mary Forester Lady Downing [aged 27] by marriage Lady Downing of East Hatley in Cambridgeshire.

On 10th June 1749 George Downing 3rd Baronet [aged 63] died without issue. His first cousin Jacob [aged 32] succeeded 4th Baronet Downing of East Hatley in Cambridgeshire.

On 17th May 1750 Jacob Garrard Downing 4th Baronet [aged 33] and Margaret Price were married. She by marriage Lady Downing of East Hatley in Cambridgeshire.

On 6th February 1764 Jacob Garrard Downing 4th Baronet [aged 47] died without issue at Hill Street, Berkeley Square. Baronet Downing of East Hatley in Cambridgeshire extinct. The will of George Downing 3rd Baronet stated the estate should be left to establish a Cambridge college in his name if Jacob Garrard Downing 4th Baronet had no son. Jacob Garrard Downing 4th Baronet, however, left the estate to his widow Margaret Price leading to forty years of litigation.
