In 1600 John Owen was born to John Owen of Bodsilin Anglesey and Elin Maurice.

In 1644 John Owen (age 44) was appointed High Sheriff of Caernarfonshire.

Around Dec 1644 John Owen (age 44) was appointed Governor of Conwy Castle.

In Feb 1645 John Owen (age 45) was appointed Sergeant Major General of foot under the Governor of Chester, John Byron 1st Baron Byron (age 46).

In May 1645 John Owen (age 45) forcibly took Conwy [Map] whose defences had been arranged by the native John Williams Archbishop of York (age 63).

Before 28 Jun 1646 [his step-father] William Eure 4th Baron Eure (age 67) and [his mother] Elin Maurice were married.

Execution of Three Lords

On 09 Mar 1649 at the Old Palace Yard three Royalist Lords were beheaded ...

Arthur Capell 1st Baron Capell Hadham (age 41) was beheaded. His son Arthur Capell 1st Earl Essex (age 17) succeeded 2nd Baron Capell Hadham.

Henry Rich 1st Earl Holland (age 58) was beheaded. His son Robert Rich 5th Earl Warwick 2nd Earl Holland (age 30) succeeded 2nd Earl Holland. Elizabeth Ingram Countess Holland (age 26) by marriage Countess Holland.

James Hamilton 1st Duke Hamilton (age 42) was beheaded. His brother William Hamilton 2nd Duke Hamilton (age 32) succeeded 2nd Duke Hamilton, 3rd Earl Cambridge by special remainder.

John Owen (age 49) had been sentenced to death but was subsequently pardoned.

Evelyn's Diary. 13 Jun 1649. I dined with my worthy friend, Sir John Owen (age 49), newly freed from sentence of death among the lords that suffered. With him was one Carew, who played incomparably on the Welsh harp; afterward I treated divers ladies of my relations, in Spring Garden.

Booth's Uprising

In Aug 1659 Booth's Uprising was a unsuccessful Cheshire rebellion led by George Booth 1st Baron Delamer (age 36) to restore King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland (age 29) to throne as part of a national uprising led by John Mordaunt 1st Viscount Mordaunt (age 33). Its supprters included John Owen (age 59).

John Marlay (age 69) was briefly imprisoned suspected of surporting the uprising.

In 1666 John Owen (age 66) died.
