On 08 Sep 1888 [his father-in-law] Charles Robert Rowley 4th Baronet (age 88) died. His son [his brother-in-law] Joshua Thellusson Rowley 5th Baronet (age 50) succeeded 5th Baronet Rowley of Tendring Hall in Suffolk.

His son Edward George Littleton 3rd Baron Hatherton succeeded 3rd Baron Hatherton. She by marriage Baroness Hatherton. On 19 Feb 1923 Charlotte Louisa Rowley Baroness Hatherton died.
