The title Earl Pembroke (1C 1138) was not included in the settlement since it had been rescinded as a consequence of Isabel's (age 17) father having supported King Stephen. The difference in their ages was 26 years. She the daughter of Richard "Strongbow" Clare 2nd Earl Pembroke and Aoife NI Diarmait Macmurrough Countess Pembroke and Buckingham.

On 14 May 1219 [his father] William Marshal 1st Earl Pembroke (age 73) died. On 14 May 1219 His son William "The Younger" Marshal 2nd Earl Pembroke (age 29) succeeded 2nd Earl Pembroke.

In 1220 [his mother] Isabel Clare Countess Pembroke (age 48) died. She was buried in the choir of Tintern Abbey [Map].

On 23 Apr 1224 William "The Younger" Marshal 2nd Earl Pembroke (age 34) and Eleanor Plantagenet Countess Pembroke and Leicester (age 9) were married. She by marriage Countess Pembroke. The difference in their ages was 25 years. She the daughter of King John "Lackland" of England and Isabella of Angoulême Queen Consort England (age 36). He the son of William Marshal 1st Earl Pembroke and Isabel Clare Countess Pembroke.
