Biography of Robert Heath Lord Chief Justice 1575-1649

On 20 May 1575 Robert Heath Lord Chief Justice was born.

In 1624 Robert Heath Lord Chief Justice (age 48) was elected MP East Grinstead.

In 1625 Robert Heath Lord Chief Justice (age 49) brought a case against the miners of the High Peak. Through the offices of Heath the tithe right was eventually transferred, in a possibly corrupt way, to Christian Cavendish, Countess of Devonshire.

Evelyn's Diary. 14 Aug 1654. Now we were come to Cottsmore, a pretty seat belonging to Mr. Heath, son of the late Lord Chief Justice of that name. Here, after dinner, parting with the company that conducted us thus far, I passed that evening by Belvoir Castle [Map], built on a round mount at the point of a long ridge of hills, which affords a stately prospect, and is famous for its strenuous resistance in the late civil war.
