Thomas Monthermer 2nd Baron Monthermer (age 38) died from wounds. His daughter Margaret Monthermer Baroness Montagu 3rd Baroness Monthermer succeeded 3rd Baroness Monthermer.

Battle of Neville's Cross

On 17 Oct 1346 at the Battle of Neville's Cross near Durham, County Durham [Map] the English inflicted a heavy defeat on the Scottish army that had invaded England in compliance with their treaty with the French for mutual support against England.

The English army included: William Deincourt 1st Baron Deincourt (age 45), Henry Scrope 1st Baron Scrope Masham (age 34), Ralph Hastings (age 55), Ralph Neville 2nd Baron Neville of Raby (age 55), Archbishop William Zouche, Henry Percy 10th and 2nd Baron Percy (age 45) and John Mowbray 3rd Baron Mowbray (age 35).

Of the Scottish army King David II of Scotland (age 22), John Graham Earl Menteith and William "Flower of Chivalry and Knight Liddesdale" Douglas 1st Earl Atholl (age 46) were captured and imprisoned in the Tower of London [Map].

Neil Bruce, John Randolph 3rd Earl Moray (age 40), David Hay 6th Baron Erroll (age 28) and Edward Keith of Sinton (age 66) were killed.

John Graham Earl Menteith was present.

Battle of Winchelsea

On 29 Aug 1350 the English fleet defeated a Castilian fleet at Winchelsea [Map] during the Battle of Winchelsea. Around twenty Castilian ships were captured; several were sunk. For the English King Edward III of England (age 37) and his son Edward "Black Prince" (age 20), James Audley (age 32), Henry Scrope 1st Baron Scrope Masham (age 37), Henry of Grosmont 1st Duke Lancaster (age 40) and John Sully (age 67) fought.

On 25 Nov 1350 Henry Scrope 1st Baron Scrope Masham (age 38) was created 1st Baron Scrope Masham.

Funeral of William Greystoke

After 10 Jul 1359 William Greystoke 2nd Baron Greystoke (age 38) was buried at St Andrew's Church, Greystoke [Map] during the Funeral of William Greystoke conducted by Bishop Gilbert Welton and attended by Roger Clifford 5th Baron Clifford (age 26), Henry Scrope 1st Baron Scrope Masham (age 46) and Thomas Musgrave 1st Baron Musgrave (age 57).

Before Sep 1391 [his son] John Scrope and [his daughter-in-law] Elizabeth Strathbogie (age 38) were married. She the daughter of David IV Strathbogie 12th Earl Atholl and Elizabeth Ferrers Countess Atholl. She a great x 3 granddaughter of King Edward "Longshanks" I of England.

On 31 Jul 1392 Henry Scrope 1st Baron Scrope Masham (age 79) died at York [Map]. His son [his son] Stephen Scrope 2nd Baron Scrope Masham (age 47) succeeded 2nd Baron Scrope Masham.
