Biography of Hester Lucy Stanhope Traveller 1776-1839

Paternal Family Tree: Stanhope

On 19 Dec 1774 [her father] Charles Stanhope 3rd Earl Stanhope (age 21) and [her mother] Hester Pitt (age 19) were married. She the daughter of William "The Elder" Pitt 1st Earl Chatham (age 66) and Hester Granville Countess Chatham (age 54). He the son of Philip Stanhope 2nd Earl Stanhope (age 60) and Grizel Hamilton Countess Stanhope. They were half second cousins.

On 12 Mar 1776 Hester Lucy Stanhope Traveller was born to Charles Stanhope 3rd Earl Stanhope (age 22) and Hester Pitt (age 20) at Chevening, Sevenoaks.

On 20 Jul 1780 [her mother] Hester Pitt (age 24) died.

In 1781 [her father] Charles Stanhope 3rd Earl Stanhope (age 27) and [her step-mother] Louisa Granville Countess Stanhope (age 23) were married. She by marriage Countess Stanhope. He the son of Philip Stanhope 2nd Earl Stanhope (age 66) and Grizel Hamilton Countess Stanhope.

On 07 Mar 1786 [her grandfather] Philip Stanhope 2nd Earl Stanhope (age 71) died. His son [her father] Charles Stanhope 3rd Earl Stanhope (age 32) succeeded 3rd Earl Stanhope.

In 1800 Hester Lucy Stanhope Traveller (age 23) was sent to live with her maternal grandmother [her grandmother] Hester Granville Countess Chatham (age 79) at Burton Pynsent, Somerset.

In Aug 1803 Hester Lucy Stanhope Traveller (age 27) moved into the home of her uncle [her uncle] William "The Younger" Pitt (age 44) to manage his household and act as hostess - he being an unmarried Prime Minister.

In 23 Jan 1806, after the death of [her uncle] William "The Younger" Pitt (age 46), Hester Lucy Stanhope Traveller (age 29) was awarded a pension of £1200 per year.

On 15 Dec 1816 [her father] Charles Stanhope 3rd Earl Stanhope (age 63) died. His son [her half-brother] Philip Henry Stanhope 4th Earl Stanhope (age 35) succeeded 4th Earl Stanhope. Catherine Lucy Smith Countess Stanhope by marriage Countess Stanhope.

Before 23 Jun 1839 William Noel-Hill 3rd Baron Berwick (age 65) and Hester Lucy Stanhope Traveller (age 63) were engaged.

On 23 Jun 1839 Hester Lucy Stanhope Traveller (age 63) died.
