On 11 Jun 1675 [his uncle] Anthony Cope 4th Baronet (age 42) died. His brother [his father] John Cope 5th Baronet (age 41) succeeded 5th Baronet Cope of Hanwell in Oxfordshire.

On 22 Oct 1689 John Cope 6th Baronet (age 15) matriculated Oriel College, Oxford University.

In 1696 John Cope 6th Baronet (age 22) and Alice Monoux (age 16) were married.

Around 1696 [his son] Monoux Cope 7th Baronet was born to John Cope 6th Baronet (age 22) and [his wife] Alice Monoux (age 16).

In 1705 John Cope 6th Baronet (age 31) was elected MP Plympton Erle.

In 1706 John Cope 6th Baronet (age 32) was elected Director of the Bank of England in which position he remained, with statutory intervals, until 1721.
