Evelyn's Diary. 14 Jul 1664. I went to take leave of the two Mr. Howards, now going to Paris, and brought them as far as Bromley, Kent; thence to Eltham, Greenwich, to see Sir John Shaw's (age 49) new house, now building; the place is pleasant, if not too wet, but the house not well contrived; especially the roof and rooms too low pitched, and the kitchen where the cellars should be; the orangery and aviary handsome, and a very large plantation about it.

On 01 Mar 1680 John Shaw 1st Baronet (age 65) died. He was buried on 06 Mar 1721 at the Church of Holy Trinity, Eltham on 06 Mar 1680. His son [his son] John Shaw 2nd Baronet (age 20) succeeded 2nd Baronet Shaw of Eltham in Kent.
On 15 Feb 1681 John Baber (age 55) and [his former wife] Bridget Drury were married.
On or before 11 Jul 1699 [his former wife] Bridget Drury died. She was buried at Eltham.
