Biography of James Wandesford Butler 1st Marquess Ormonde 1777-1838

In Feb 1769 [his father] John Butler 17th Earl Ormonde 11th Earl Ossory (age 28) and [his mother] Frances Wandesford Countess Ormonde and Ossory (age 15) were married. She the sole heiress of her father [his grandfather] John Wandesford 1st Earl Wandesford (age 43). She the daughter of John Wandesford 1st Earl Wandesford (age 43). He the son of Walter Butler 16th Earl Ormonde 9th Earl Ossory (age 65).

On 15 Jul 1777 James Wandesford Butler 1st Marquess Ormonde was born to John Butler 17th Earl Ormonde 11th Earl Ossory (age 36) and Frances Wandesford Countess Ormonde and Ossory (age 23).

On 02 Jun 1783 [his grandfather] Walter Butler 16th Earl Ormonde 9th Earl Ossory (age 79) died. His son [his father] John Butler 17th Earl Ormonde 11th Earl Ossory (age 42) succeeded 17th Earl Ormonde, 11th Earl Ossory. [his mother] Frances Wandesford Countess Ormonde and Ossory (age 29) by marriage Countess Ormonde and Countess Ossory.

On 25 Dec 1795 [his father] John Butler 17th Earl Ormonde 11th Earl Ossory (age 55) died. His son [his brother] Walter Butler 1st Marquess Ormonde (age 25) succeeded 18th Earl Ormonde, 12th Earl Ossory.

In or before 1807 Richard Ponsonby (age 35) and [his future sister-in-law] Frances Staples were married. He the son of William Ponsonby 1st Baron Ponsonby of Imokilly in County Cork and Louisa Molesworth Countess Fitzwilliam (age 57). They were half first cousins.

On 12 Oct 1807 James Wandesford Butler 1st Marquess Ormonde (age 30) and Grace Louisa Staples Marchioness Ormonde were married. He the son of John Butler 17th Earl Ormonde 11th Earl Ossory and Frances Wandesford Countess Ormonde and Ossory (age 53).

On 24 Aug 1808 [his son] John Butler 2nd Marquess Ormonde was born to James Wandesford Butler 1st Marquess Ormonde (age 31) and [his wife] Grace Louisa Staples Marchioness Ormonde.

In 1814 [his son] Walter Wandesford Butler was born to James Wandesford Butler 1st Marquess Ormonde (age 36) and [his wife] Grace Louisa Staples Marchioness Ormonde.

In 1815 [his son] James Wandesford Butler was born to James Wandesford Butler 1st Marquess Ormonde (age 37) and [his wife] Grace Louisa Staples Marchioness Ormonde.

In 1816 [his daughter] Louisa Grace Butler was born to James Wandesford Butler 1st Marquess Ormonde (age 38) and [his wife] Grace Louisa Staples Marchioness Ormonde.

In 1819 [his brother-in-law] Richard Staples died.

On 10 Aug 1820 [his brother] Walter Butler 1st Marquess Ormonde (age 50) died without issue. Marquess Ormonde extinct. His brother James Wandesford Butler 1st Marquess Ormonde (age 43) succeeded 19th Earl Ormonde, 13th Earl Ossory.
