Biography of William Murray 1st Earl Mansfield 1705-1793

On 24 Jul 1668 [his grandfather] David Murray 4th Viscount of Stormont (age 32) died. His son [his father] David Murray 5th Viscount of Stormont (age 3) succeeded 5th Viscount Stormont. [his mother] Marjory Scott Viscountess Stormont by marriage Viscountess Stormont.

On 31 Jan 1688 [his father] David Murray 5th Viscount of Stormont (age 23) and [his mother] Marjory Scott Viscountess Stormont were married.

On 02 Mar 1705 William Murray 1st Earl Mansfield was born to David Murray 5th Viscount of Stormont (age 40) and Marjory Scott Viscountess Stormont.

In 1792 William Murray 1st Earl Mansfield (age 86) was created 1st Earl Mansfield in Middlesex with a special remainder to his nephew David Murray 2nd Earl Mansfield (age 64). There was no such place as Mansfield in Middlesex; it was invented to differentiate it from the earlier Mansfield in Nottinghamshire creation.

Before 20 Mar 1793 William Murray 1st Earl Mansfield (age 88) and Elizabeth Finch Countess Mansfield were married. She by marriage Countess Mansfield in Nottinghamshire. She the daughter of Daniel Finch 2nd Earl Nottingham 7th Earl Winchilsea and Anne Hatton Countess Nottingham and Winchelsea.

On 20 Mar 1793 William Murray 1st Earl Mansfield (age 88) died. His nephew David Murray 2nd Earl Mansfield (age 65) succeeded 2nd Earl Mansfield in Middlesex. Louisa Cathcart 2nd Countess Mansfield (age 35) by marriage Countess Mansfield in Middlesex.

His niece-in-law Louisa Cathcart 2nd Countess Mansfield (age 35) succeeded 2nd Countess Mansfield in Nottinghamshire.
