On 29 May 1555 George Carew 1st Earl Totnes was born to George Carew Archdeacon of Totnes Archdeacon Exeter (age 57).

Around 1574 [his illegitimate son] Thomas Stafford was born illegitimately to George Carew 1st Earl Totnes (age 18).

In May 1580 George Carew 1st Earl Totnes (age 24) and Joyce Clopton Countess Totnes were married.

On 01 Jun 1583 [his father] George Carew Archdeacon of Totnes Archdeacon Exeter (age 85) died. He was buried at St Giles in the Fields Church, Camden [Map].

We have no news but that there is a misfortune befallen Mistris Fitton (age 21) for she is proved with child, and the E. of Pembroke (age 19) being examyned confesseth a ffact, but utterly renounceth all marriage. I fear they will both dwell in the Tower [Map] awhyle, for the Queen (age 66) have vowed to send them thether.

When you thing fit you may send over 1076 [Desmond] but retain his patent with yourself. You shall not need to send to know her Ma'ties further pleasure. In many wayes lett not Cashell come over. The more excpectation which 1076 leaveth behynd him o returne the better construction wilbe made of his departure.

On 16 Sep 1607 Princess Mary Stewart (age 2) died of pneumonia at the Stanwell Park Stanwell, Surrey home of Thomas Knyvet 1st Baron Knyvet (age 62) in whose care she had been placed. As soon as Mary died, the Earl of Worcester (age 57), the Earl of Leicester (age 43) and the Earl of Totnes (age 52) went to Hampton Court Palace [Map], to inform the Queen (age 32) of her daughter's death. Seeing the three men before her, Queen Anne realized what had happened and spared the men the task of telling her.

In 1610 [his daughter] Sophia Carew was born to George Carew 1st Earl Totnes (age 54).

On 05 Feb 1626 George Carew 1st Earl Totnes (age 70) was created 1st Earl Totnes. [his wife] Joyce Clopton Countess Totnes by marriage Countess Totnes.

On 27 Mar 1629 George Carew 1st Earl Totnes (age 73) died at Savoy Palace [Map]. He was buried at Clopton Chantry Chapel Church of the Holy Trinity Stratford upon Avon [Map]. Earl Totnes extinct.

Richard Boyle 1st Earl Cork was knighted by George Carew 1st Earl Totnes at St Mary's Abbey, Dublin.
