Jean de Waurin's Chronicle of England Volume 6 Books 3-6: The Wars of the Roses

Jean de Waurin was a French Chronicler, from the Artois region, who was born around 1400, and died around 1474. Waurin’s Chronicle of England, Volume 6, covering the period 1450 to 1471, from which we have selected and translated Chapters relating to the Wars of the Roses, provides a vivid, original, contemporary description of key events some of which he witnessed first-hand, some of which he was told by the key people involved with whom Waurin had a personal relationship.

On 2nd October 1766 Henry Vaughan aka Halford 1st Baronet was born to James Vaughan.

On 31st March 1795 Henry Vaughan aka Halford 1st Baronet [aged 28] and Elizabeth Barbara St John Lady Halford [aged 33] were married.

In 1797 [his son] Henry Halford 2nd Baronet was born to Henry Vaughan aka Halford 1st Baronet [aged 30] and [his wife] Elizabeth Barbara St John Lady Halford [aged 34]. He married before 9th August 1828 his half first cousin Barbara Vaughan, daughter of John Vaughan and Louise Rouse-Boughton Baroness St John, and had issue.

The London Gazette 16293. Whitehall, September 2nd, 1809. The King has been pleased to grant the Dignity of a Baronet of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, to the following Gentlemen, and the respective Heirs Male of their Bodies lawfully begotten, viz.

Edwin Bayntun-Sandys [aged 35], of Miserden Castle, in the County of Gloucester, and of Chadlington-Hall, in the County of Oxford, Esq.

In 1812 Henry Vaughan aka Halford 1st Baronet [aged 45] was appointed physician in ordinary to King George III [aged 73].

In 1815 Henry Vaughan aka Halford 1st Baronet [aged 48] changed his surname from Vaughan to Halford by Private Act of Parliament; 55 George III. c. 82: An​‌‌‌​‌‌ ​‌‌‌​‌​Act​‌‌‌​‌​ ​‌‌‌​‌‌for​‌​‌‌‌‌ ​‌‌​​​​continuing​‌‌​​‌‌ ​‌‌​​‌‌and​‌‌​​​​ ​‌‌‌​​‌confirming​‌‌‌​​‌ ​‌‌​‌‌​on​‌‌‌‌​​ ​‌‌‌​‌​Sir​‌‌​​‌‌ ​‌​‌​‌‌Henry​‌‌‌​‌‌ ​‌​‌​‌​Halford​‌‌​‌​​ ​​​‌‌‌Baronet​​‌‌‌​,​​‌‌​‌ ​​‌​​‌and​​​‌‌​ ​​‌​​‌the​​‌​​​ Heirs Male of his Body, the Surname and Arms of Halford only.

On 30th September 1820 Henry Vaughan aka Halford 1st Baronet [aged 53] was elected President of the Royal College of Physicians.

Before 9th August 1828 [his son] Henry Halford 2nd Baronet [aged 31] and [his daughter-in-law] Barbara Vaughan were married. They were half first cousins.

On 17th June 1833 [his wife] Elizabeth Barbara St John Lady Halford [aged 71] died.
