John Brinsley Norton 5th Baron Grantley 1855-1943

On 1st October 1855 John Brinsley Norton 5th Baron Grantley was born to Thomas Brinsley Norton 4th Baron Grantley [aged 23].

On 28th August 1875 Fletcher Norton 3rd Baron Grantley [aged 77] died without issue. His nephew [his father] Thomas [aged 43] succeeded 4th Baron Grantley of Markenfield in Yorkshire.

On 24th July 1877 [his father] Thomas Brinsley Norton 4th Baron Grantley [aged 45] died. His son John [aged 21] succeeded 5th Baron Grantley of Markenfield in Yorkshire.

On 20th August 1877 Clement Martin Le Breton and [his future wife] Alice Jones Baroness Grantley [aged 12] were married at St Peter's Church, Pimlico.

On 4th November 1879 Major Charles Norton [aged 44] and [his future wife] Katharine Buckner McVickar Baroness Grantley were divorced after she became pregnant by his cousin John Brinsley Norton 5th Baron Grantley [aged 24] who she married the following day. The child was born five days later.

On 5th November 1879 John Brinsley Norton 5th Baron Grantley [aged 24] and Katharine Buckner McVickar Baroness Grantley were married. She by marriage Baroness Grantley of Markenfield in Yorkshire.

In 1892 [his son] Richard Henry Brinsley Norton 6th Baron Grantley was born to John Brinsley Norton 5th Baron Grantley [aged 36] and [his wife] Katharine Buckner McVickar Baroness Grantley. He married 6th April 1919 Jean Mary Kinloch and had issue.

On 17th April 1897 [his wife] Katharine Buckner McVickar Baroness Grantley died.

In 1898 Clement Martin Le Breton and [his future wife] Alice Jones Baroness Grantley [aged 32] were divorced after he discovered her affair with his friend John Brinsley Norton 5th Baron Grantley [aged 42] who she married the following year.

On 16th September 1899 John Brinsley Norton 5th Baron Grantley [aged 43] and Alice Jones Baroness Grantley [aged 34] were married. She by marriage Baroness Grantley of Markenfield in Yorkshire. Their first child Joan was born five days later.

On 26th June 1907 [his son-in-law] William Galbraith Tennant [aged 28] and [his daughter] Winifred Chapple Norton were married.

On 11th July 1914 [his daughter] Winifred Chapple Norton died.

On 6th April 1919 [his son] Richard Henry Brinsley Norton 6th Baron Grantley [aged 27] and [his daughter-in-law] Jean Mary Kinloch [aged 20] were married at St Margaret's Church, Westminster [Map].

On 11th May 1942 [his wife] Alice Jones Baroness Grantley [aged 76] died.

On 5th August 1943 John Brinsley Norton 5th Baron Grantley [aged 87] died. His son Richard [aged 51] succeeded 6th Baron Grantley of Markenfield in Yorkshire.

[his daughter] Winifred Chapple Norton was born to John Brinsley Norton 5th Baron Grantley and Katharine Buckner McVickar Baroness Grantley. She married 26th June 1907 William Galbraith Tennant.
