On 30th December 1455 John Mordaunt was born to William Mordaunt [aged 23] and Margaret Peake [aged 21] at Turvey, Bedfordshire.
Before 1475 John Mordaunt [aged 19] and Edith Latimer [aged 24] were married. The date somewhat unreliable. Her first husband John Greene [aged 29] is supposed to have died in 1483 which makes the date of her marriage to John Mordaunt and the birth of her sons by him unreliable?
Around 1475 [his son] Robert Mordaunt was born to John Mordaunt [aged 19] and [his wife] Edith Latimer [aged 25].
In 1480 [his son] John Mordaunt 1st Baron Mordaunt was born to John Mordaunt [aged 24] and [his wife] Edith Latimer [aged 30] at Cople, Bedfordshire. He married before 1508 Elizabeth Vere Baroness Mordaunt and had issue.
In 1481 [his father] William Mordaunt [aged 49] died at Cople, Bedfordshire.
Around 1484 [his daughter] Joan Mordaunt was born to John Mordaunt [aged 28] and [his wife] Edith Latimer [aged 34] at Cople, Bedfordshire. Date changed to 1484 to be consistent with birth of son Henry in 1500. She married 26th November 1526 Giles Strangeways and had issue.
On 16th June 1487 a Lancastrian army defeated a Yorkist army at the Battle of Stoke Field; considered by many to be the last battle of the Wars of the Roses.

Lambert Simnel [aged 10] fought and was captured. He was pardoned by King Henry VII and put to work in the in the royal kitchen as a spit-turner. When he grew older, he became a falconer. Almost no information about his later life is known.

In 1491 John Mordaunt [aged 35] was elected MP Grantham.
The History of William Marshal was commissioned by his son shortly after William’s death in 1219 to celebrate the Marshal’s remarkable life; it is an authentic, contemporary voice. The manuscript was discovered in 1861 by French historian Paul Meyer. Meyer published the manuscript in its original Anglo-French in 1891 in two books. This book is a line by line translation of the first of Meyer’s books; lines 1-10152. Book 1 of the History begins in 1139 and ends in 1194. It describes the events of the Anarchy, the role of William’s father John, John’s marriages, William’s childhood, his role as a hostage at the siege of Newbury, his injury and imprisonment in Poitou where he met Eleanor of Aquitaine and his life as a knight errant. It continues with the accusation against him of an improper relationship with Margaret, wife of Henry the Young King, his exile, and return, the death of Henry the Young King, the rebellion of Richard, the future King Richard I, war with France, the death of King Henry II, and the capture of King Richard, and the rebellion of John, the future King John. It ends with the release of King Richard and the death of John Marshal.

Edith Latimer: Before 1479 John Greene and she were married. Around 1450 she was born to Nicholas Latimer and Joan Hody at Duntish, Dorset. Before 1475 John Mordaunt and she were married. The date somewhat unreliable. Her first husband John Greene is supposed to have died in 1483 which makes the date of her marriage to John Mordaunt and the birth of her sons by him unreliable? On 1st September 1504 Edith Latimer died at Turvey, Bedfordshire. She was buried at All Saints Church, Turvey [Map].
