Henry Carey 2nd Earl Monmouth 1596-1661

On 20th August 1593 [his father] Robert Carey 1st Earl Monmouth [aged 33] and [his mother] Elizabeth Trevannion Countess Monmouth [aged 30] were married.

On 15th January 1596 Henry Carey 2nd Earl Monmouth was born to Robert Carey 1st Earl Monmouth [aged 36] and Elizabeth Trevannion Countess Monmouth [aged 33] at Denham, Buckinghamshire.

Around April 1611 Henry Carey 2nd Earl Monmouth [aged 15] was educated at Exeter College, Oxford University.

In February 1613 Henry Carey 2nd Earl Monmouth [aged 17] graduated at Exeter College, Oxford University.

In 1616 Henry Carey 2nd Earl Monmouth [aged 19] was appointed Knight of the Bath.

In 1620 Henry Carey 2nd Earl Monmouth [aged 23] and Martha Cranfield Countess Monmouth [aged 19] were married. She the daughter of Lionel Cranfield 1st Earl Middlesex [aged 45] and Elizabeth Sheppard. He the son of Robert Carey 1st Earl Monmouth [aged 60] and Elizabeth Trevannion Countess Monmouth [aged 57].

Around 1622 [his son] Lionel Carey was born to Henry Carey 2nd Earl Monmouth [aged 25] and [his wife] Martha Cranfield Countess Monmouth [aged 21].

In 1623 [his son] Henry Carey was born to Henry Carey 2nd Earl Monmouth [aged 26] and [his wife] Martha Cranfield Countess Monmouth [aged 22]. He married 12th February 1655 his second cousin Mary Scrope 6th Marchioness Winchester, daughter of Emanuel Scrope 1st Earl of Sunderland and Martha Jeanes.

In 1626 [his father] Robert Carey 1st Earl Monmouth [aged 66] was created 1st Earl Monmouth. [his mother] Elizabeth Trevannion Countess Monmouth [aged 63] by marriage Countess Monmouth.

Around 1626 [his daughter] Anne Carey Countess Clanbrassil was born to Henry Carey 2nd Earl Monmouth [aged 29] and [his wife] Martha Cranfield Countess Monmouth [aged 25]. She married before 7th June 1647 James Hamilton 1st Earl Clanbrassil, son of James Hamilton 1st Viscount Clandeboye, and had issue.

Around 1628 [his daughter] Philadelphia Carey was born to Henry Carey 2nd Earl Monmouth [aged 31] and [his wife] Martha Cranfield Countess Monmouth [aged 27].

Around 1630 [his daughter] Elizabeth Carey was born to Henry Carey 2nd Earl Monmouth [aged 33] and [his wife] Martha Cranfield Countess Monmouth [aged 29].

Around 1632 [his daughter] Mary Carey Countess Desmond and Denbigh was born to Henry Carey 2nd Earl Monmouth [aged 35] and [his wife] Martha Cranfield Countess Monmouth [aged 31]. She married before 1668 William Feilding 2nd Earl Desmond 3rd Earl Denbigh, son of George Feilding 1st Earl Desmond and Bridget Stanhope Countess Desmond, and had issue.

Around 1634 [his daughter] Treviana Carey was born to Henry Carey 2nd Earl Monmouth [aged 37] and [his wife] Martha Cranfield Countess Monmouth [aged 33].

Around 1635 [his daughter] Martha Carey Countess Middleton was born to Henry Carey 2nd Earl Monmouth [aged 38] and [his wife] Martha Cranfield Countess Monmouth [aged 34]. She married 16th December 1667 John Middleton 1st Earl Middleton and had issue.

Around 1637 [his daughter] Theophilia Carey was born to Henry Carey 2nd Earl Monmouth [aged 40] and [his wife] Martha Cranfield Countess Monmouth [aged 36].

Around 1639 [his daughter] Magdalena Carey was born to Henry Carey 2nd Earl Monmouth [aged 42] and [his wife] Martha Cranfield Countess Monmouth [aged 38].

On 12th April 1639 [his father] Robert Carey 1st Earl Monmouth [aged 79] died. His son Henry [aged 43] succeeded 2nd Earl Monmouth. [his wife] Martha Cranfield Countess Monmouth [aged 38] by marriage Countess Monmouth.

In 1641 [his mother] Elizabeth Trevannion Countess Monmouth [aged 78] died.

Before 7th June 1647 [his son-in-law] James Hamilton 1st Earl Clanbrassil [aged 29] and Anne Carey Countess Clanbrassil [aged 21] were married. She the daughter of Henry Carey 2nd Earl Monmouth [aged 51] and Martha Cranfield Countess Monmouth [aged 46].

On 5th November 1649 [his son] Henry Carey [aged 26] died.

On 12th February 1655 Henry Carey and Mary Scrope 6th Marchioness Winchester were married at St Dionis Backchurch. She the illegitmate daughter of Emanuel Scrope 1st Earl of Sunderland and Martha Jeanes. He the son of Henry Carey 2nd Earl Monmouth [aged 59] and Martha Cranfield Countess Monmouth [aged 54]. They were second cousins.

Before June 1661 [his daughter] Magdalena Carey [aged 22] died.

Before June 1661 [his daughter] Philadelphia Carey [aged 33] died.

Before June 1661 [his daughter] Theophilia Carey [aged 24] died.

Before June 1661 [his daughter] Treviana Carey [aged 27] died.

On 12th June 1661 Henry Carey 2nd Earl Monmouth [aged 65] died at Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire. Earl Monmouth extinct.
