The River Mersey is formed from the River Goyt and River Tame which converge at Stockport, Cheshire [Map] from where it flows through Carrington, Lancashire [Map], Warrington, Cheshire [Map], Widnes, Lancashire [Map] and Runcorn, Cheshire [Map] to Liverpool, Lancashire [Map] after which it joins the Irish Sea.

River Bollin

The River Bollin rises at Macclesfield Forest [Map] from where it flows through Macclesfield, Cheshire [Map], Prestbury, Cheshire [Map] and Mottram Hall, Cheshire [Map], after which it is joined by the River Dean, under Manchester Airport [Map] to Hale, Cheshire [Map] then Dunham Massey, Cheshire [Map] after which it joins the River Mersey.

River Dean

The River Dean rises near Rainow, Cheshire [Map] from where it flows north-east through Bollington, Cheshire [Map], past Adlington Hall, Cheshire [Map], through Handforth, Cheshire [Map] to north of Wilmslow where it joins the River Bollin.

River Goyt

River Sett

The River Sett rises near South Head Farm, Kinder [Map] from where it flows through Hayfield, Derbyshire [Map], Birch Vale, Derbyshire [Map] to New Mills, Derbyshire [Map] where it joins the River Goyt.

River Kinder

The River Kinder rises on Kinder Scout from where it flows over Kinder Downfall [Map], through Kinder Reservoir [Map] to Bowden Bridge, Kinder [Map] immediately after which it joins the River Sett.
