Paternal Family Tree: De Cotton
Before 2nd January 1695 [his father] Thomas Cotton 2nd Baronet [aged 23] and [his mother] Philadelphia Lynch Lady Cotton [aged 19] were married. They had nine sons and six daughters.
On 2nd January 1695 Robert Salusbury Cotton 3rd Baronet was born to Thomas Cotton 2nd Baronet [aged 23] and Philadelphia Lynch Lady Cotton [aged 19].
On 18th December 1712 [his grandfather] Robert Cotton 1st Baronet [aged 77] died. His son [his father] Thomas [aged 40] succeeded 2nd Baronet Cotton of Combermere in Cheshire. [his mother] Philadelphia Lynch Lady Cotton [aged 37] by marriage Lady Cotton of Combermere in Cheshire.
On 12th June 1715 [his father] Thomas Cotton 2nd Baronet [aged 43] died. His son Robert [aged 20] succeeded 3rd Baronet Cotton of Combermere in Cheshire.
Combermere Papers. 1745. Sir Thomas was succeeded by his son Sir Robert [aged 49] who married Lady Betty Tollemache [aged 63] daughter of the Earl of Dysart and dying in 1748 without issue was succeeded by his brother Lynch [aged 40]. He married his cousin Miss Cotton of Ethwall [aged 32] and died in 1775 leaving behind him besides other issue Robert [aged 6] who succeeded him and was the father of Lord Combermere Roland an Admiral in the Royal Navy and father of General Sir Willoughby Cotton GCB at one time Commander in Chief at Bombay; Lynch; George, Dean of Chester; Thomas; William; Richard, an officer in the Army killed in action; Henry; and Calveley, Captain 1st Life Guards who married Miss Lockwood by whom he had Major General Sir Sidney Cotton KCB Admiral Frank Cotton and Major General Sir Arthur Cotton Kt., Madras Engineers, celebrated for his irrigation labours in India.
Before 16th August 1745 Robert Salusbury Cotton 3rd Baronet [aged 50] and Elizabeth Tollemache [aged 63] were married. She the daughter of Lionel Tollemache 3rd Earl Dysart and Grace Wilbraham Countess Dysart.
On 16th August 1745 or 16th August 1746 [his wife] Elizabeth Tollemache [aged 63] died.
On 27th August 1748 Robert Salusbury Cotton 3rd Baronet [aged 53] died. His brother Lynch [aged 43] succeeded 4th Baronet Cotton of Combermere in Cheshire.
