Before 1st March 1312 John Grey 1st Baron Grey [aged 11] and Catherine Fitzalan Baroness Grey Rotherfield [aged 12] were married. She by marriage Baroness Grey of Rotherfield.
Around 1316 [his son] John Grey 2nd Baron Grey was born to John Grey 1st Baron Grey [aged 15] and [his wife] Catherine Fitzalan Baroness Grey Rotherfield [aged 16] at Rotherfield Greys, Oxfordshire. He a great x 4 grandson of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England. He married in or before 1347 his half fifth cousin once removed Maud Burghesh Baroness Grey Rotherfield, daughter of Bartholomew "The Elder" Burghesh 1st Baron Burghesh and Elizabeth Verdun Baroness Burghesh, and had issue.
Around 1328 [his daughter] Maud Grey was born to John Grey 1st Baron Grey [aged 27] and [his wife] Catherine Fitzalan Baroness Grey Rotherfield [aged 28] at Rotherfield Greys, Oxfordshire. Date adjusted from 1338 to be consistent with mother's death around 1328. She a great x 4 granddaughter of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England. She married (1) in or before 1368 her sixth cousin John Botetort, son of John Botetort 2nd Baron Botetort and Joyce Zouche, and had issue (2) after 21st September 1369 her half third cousin twice removed Thomas Harcourt and had issue.
On 7th August 1328 [his wife] Catherine Fitzalan Baroness Grey Rotherfield [aged 28] died.
Around 1333 [his son] Robert Grey was born to John Grey 1st Baron Grey [aged 32] and [his future wife] Avice Marmion Baroness Grey Rotherfield [aged 24]. He a great x 4 grandson of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England. He married in or before 1364 Lora St Quintin.
In 1333 [his son-in-law] Richard Willoughby [aged 43] and [his daughter] Joan Grey were married.
Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough
A canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: 'In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed.'

George the martyr and the choosing of the knights of the Garter.
On 1st September 1359 John Grey 1st Baron Grey [aged 58] died at Rotherfield Greys, Oxfordshire. His son John [aged 43] succeeded 2nd Baron Grey of Rotherfield.
On 20th March 1378 [his former wife] Avice Marmion Baroness Grey Rotherfield [aged 69] died.
[his daughter] Joan Grey was born to John Grey 1st Baron Grey and Avice Marmion Baroness Grey Rotherfield at Rotherfield Greys, Oxfordshire. She a great x 4 granddaughter of King Henry "Curtmantle" II of England. She married 1333 Richard Willoughby and had issue.
