Around 1581 [her father] Edward Dudley 5th Baron Dudley [aged 13] and [her mother] Theodosia Harrington Baroness Dudley were married.

In 1586 Mary Dudley Countess Home was born to Edward Dudley 5th Baron Dudley [aged 18] and Theodosia Harrington Baroness Dudley.

On 12th July 1586 [her grandfather] Edward Sutton 4th Baron Dudley [aged 61] died. He was buried at St Margaret's Church, Westminster [Map]. His son [her father] Edward [aged 18] succeeded 5th Baron Dudley. [her mother] Theodosia Harrington Baroness Dudley by marriage Baroness Dudley.

On 4th March 1605 Alexander Home 1st Earl of Home [aged 39] was created 1st Earl of Home. Mary Dudley Countess Home [aged 19] by marriage Countess of Home.

In 1607 [her son] James Home 2nd Earl of Home was born to Alexander Home 1st Earl of Home [aged 41] and Mary Dudley Countess Home [aged 21]. He married (1) May 1622 Catherine Carey Countess Home, daughter of Henry Carey 1st Viscount Falkland and Elizabeth Tanfield Duchess Bridgewater (2) 1626 his sixth cousin Grace Fane Countess Home, daughter of Francis Fane 1st Earl of Westmoreland and Mary Mildmay Countess of Westmoreland.

Around 1612 [her daughter] Anne Home was born to Alexander Home 1st Earl of Home [aged 46] and Mary Dudley Countess Home [aged 26]. She married December 1671 John Maitland 1st Duke Lauderdale, son of John Maitland 1st Earl Lauderdale, and had issue.

Diary of Anne Clifford. 5th April 1619. The 5th Lord Hume [aged 53] died in Channel Row, who married Mrs Mary Dudley [aged 33], my old companion, and left her as well as he could possibly.

Diary of Anne Clifford. 19th April 1619. Monday the 19th I went to Somerset House and sat a good while there by the Queen's corpse, and then went into the Privy Galleries and shewed my Coz. Mary those fine delicate things there.

From thence I went to Bedford House and stayed with my Lady of Bedford [aged 39] a little while, and she and I went to Channel Row to see my Lady Hume [aged 33] the widow.

This day my Lord [aged 30], my Lord Hundson [aged 39], and my Sister Sackville, christened Hammon's child at St. Dunstan's Church.

In May 1622 James Home 2nd Earl of Home [aged 15] and Catherine Carey Countess Home [aged 13] were married at Whitehall Palace [Map] with King James I of Scotland present. She by marriage Countess of Home. He the son of Alexander Home 1st Earl of Home and Mary Dudley Countess Home [aged 36].

Memoires of Jacques du Clercq

This is a translation of the 'Memoires of Jacques du Clercq', published in 1823 in two volumes, edited by Frederic, Baron de Reissenberg. In his introduction Reissenberg writes: 'Jacques du Clercq tells us that he was born in 1424, and that he was a licentiate in law and a counsellor to Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, in the castellany of Douai, Lille, and Orchies. It appears that he established his residence at Arras. In 1446, he married the daughter of Baldwin de la Lacherie, a gentleman who lived in Lille. We read in the fifth book of his Memoirs that his father, also named Jacques du Clercq, had married a lady of the Le Camelin family, from Compiègne. His ancestors, always attached to the counts of Flanders, had constantly served them, whether in their councils or in their armies.' The Memoires cover a period of nineteen years beginning in in 1448, ending in in 1467. It appears that the author had intended to extend the Memoirs beyond that date; no doubt illness or death prevented him from carrying out this plan. As Reissenberg writes the 'merit of this work lies in the simplicity of its narrative, in its tone of good faith, and in a certain air of frankness which naturally wins the reader’s confidence.' Du Clercq ranges from events of national and international importance, including events of the Wars of the Roses in England, to simple, everyday local events such as marriages, robberies, murders, trials and deaths, including that of his own father in Book 5; one of his last entries.

She the daughter of Francis Fane 1st Earl of Westmoreland [aged 45] and Mary Mildmay Countess of Westmoreland [aged 44]. He the son of Alexander Home 1st Earl of Home and Mary Dudley Countess Home [aged 40]. They were sixth cousins.

On 18th October 1627 [her son-in-law] James Stewart 4th Earl of Moray [aged 16] and Margaret Home Countess Moray were married. She by marriage Countess Moray. She the daughter of Alexander Home 1st Earl of Home and Mary Dudley Countess Home [aged 41]. He the son of James Stewart 3rd Earl of Moray [aged 36] and Anne Gordon Countess Moray. They were half third cousin twice removed. He a great x 4 grandson of King Henry VII of England and Ireland.

On 13th February 1633 [her son] James Home 2nd Earl of Home [aged 26] died. His half fifth cousin once removed James [aged 17] succeeded 3rd Earl of Home. Jean Douglas Countess Home by marriage Countess of Home.

In 1645 Mary Dudley Countess Home [aged 59] died.

Alexander Home 1st Earl of Home and Mary Dudley Countess Home were married. The difference in their ages was 20 years.

[her daughter] Margaret Home Countess Moray was born to Alexander Home 1st Earl of Home and Mary Dudley Countess Home. She married 18th October 1627 her half third cousin twice removed James Stewart 4th Earl of Moray, son of James Stewart 3rd Earl of Moray and Anne Gordon Countess Moray, and had issue.
