Jean de Waurin's Chronicle of England Volume 6 Books 3-6: The Wars of the Roses
Jean de Waurin was a French Chronicler, from the Artois region, who was born around 1400, and died around 1474. Waurin’s Chronicle of England, Volume 6, covering the period 1450 to 1471, from which we have selected and translated Chapters relating to the Wars of the Roses, provides a vivid, original, contemporary description of key events some of which he witnessed first-hand, some of which he was told by the key people involved with whom Waurin had a personal relationship.

The True Chronicles of Jean le Bel Volume 2 Chapters 61-109 1342-1361
The Chronicle of Jean le Bel, Volume 2 continues one of the most important fourteenth-century accounts of the early Hundred Years’ War. Written by the Liège chronicler Jean le Bel, this vivid narrative follows the fortunes of Edward III, Jean II of France, the Black Prince, the great nobles of France and England, and the soldiers, captains and companies who shaped the conflict. On 21st May 1667 Theophilus Clinton 4th Earl Lincoln [aged 67] died. His grandson Edward succeeded 5th Earl Lincoln, 13th Baron Clinton.
In 1721 Hugh Fortescue 1st Earl Clinton [aged 25] succeeded 14th Baron Clinton.
In 1751 Hugh Fortescue 1st Earl Clinton [aged 55] died unmarried. Earl Clinton extinct. His half brother Matthew [aged 32] succeeded 2nd Baron Fortescue of Castle Hill. Baron Clinton abeyant between his sister Margaret Fortescue and his second cousin Margaret Rolle Countess Orford [aged 41].
On 14th March 1760 Margaret Fortescue died unmarried. Her second cousin Margaret [aged 51] abeyance terminated 15th Baroness Clinton.
On 13th January 1781 Margaret Rolle Countess Orford [aged 71] died. Her son George [aged 50] succeeded 16th Baron Clinton.
On 5th December 1791 George Walpole 3rd Earl Orford [aged 61] died. His uncle Horace [aged 74] succeeded 4th Earl Orford. His second cousin twice removed Robert [aged 27] succeeded 17th Baron Clinton.
On 28th August 1797 Robert Trefusis 17th Baron Clinton [aged 32] died. His son Robert [aged 10] succeeded 18th Baron Clinton.

Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough
A canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: 'In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed.'

On 5th July 1957 Charles Hepburn-Stuart-Forbes-Trefusis 21st Baron Clinton [aged 94] died. Baron Clinton abeyant between his daughters Harriet Hepburn-Stuart-Forbes-Trefusis [aged 69] and Fenella Hepburn-Stuart-Forbes-Trefusis [aged 67]. The abeyance was terminated when Gerard Nevile Mark Fane-Trefusis 22nd Baron Clinton [aged 23], grandson of Harriet Hepburn-Stuart-Forbes-Trefusis, succeeded as 22nd Baron Clinton.
On 19th July 1966 Fenella Hepburn-Stuart-Forbes-Trefusis [aged 76] died. Her great nephew Gerard [aged 32] abeyance terminated 22nd Baron Clinton.
