On 21st September 1555 John Thynne was born to John Thynne [aged 40] and Christian Gresham [aged 33].

Around 1556 [his father] John Thynne [aged 41] and [his step-mother] Dorothy Wroughton [aged 31] were married.

Before 1567 [his mother] Christian Gresham [aged 44] died.

Around 1578 [his son] Thomas Thynne was born to John Thynne [aged 22] and Joan Hayward. He married (1) May 1594 Mary Tuchet, daughter of George Tuchet 1st Earl Castlehaven and Lucy Mervyn Baroness Audley and Tuchet, and had issue (2) after 1611 Catherine Howard and had issue.

On 21st May 1580 [his father] John Thynne [aged 65] died. He was buried at Saints Peter and Paul Church, Longbridge Deverill [Map].

In 1584 John Thynne [aged 28] was elected MP Heytesbury.

In 1586 John Thynne [aged 30] was elected MP Heytesbury.

In 1589 John Thynne [aged 33] was elected MP Wiltshire.

Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke

Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson.

In 1597 John Thynne [aged 41] was elected MP Heytesbury.

In 1601 John Thynne [aged 45] was elected MP Heytesbury.

In 1603 John Thynne [aged 47] was knighted.

In 1604 John Thynne [aged 48] was elected MP Wiltshire.

On 21st November 1604 John Thynne [aged 49] died.

[his daughter] Christian Thynne was born to John Thynne and Joan Hayward. She married 1623 Francis Leigh of Addington.
