In or before 1191 Bishop Walter de Cantelupe was born to William Cantilupe Baron (age 31).

Chronica Majora. 30 Aug 1236. The venerable bishops of Worcester and Norwich, of pious memory, having gone the way of all flesh, the monks of Worcester elected Master Walter de Cantelupe (age 45), son of the powerful and illustrious [his father] William de Cantelupe (age 77), to be their prelate and the pastor of their souls, and the pope accepted of him "without any difficulty, and consecrated him as bishop. The Norwich monks elected their prior, a religious and discreet man, to be their head; but his election, although duly made, displeased the king, and, owing to the ridiculous reasonings and objections of some who opposed it, was for a long time hung in suspense, not without certain scmples arising from suspected misdeeds.

On 30 Aug 1236 Bishop Walter de Cantelupe (age 45) was elected Bishop of Worcester.

On 03 May 1237 Bishop Walter de Cantelupe (age 46) was consecrated Bishop of Worcester.

On 07 Apr 1239 [his father] William Cantilupe Baron (age 80) died. He was buried at Studley Priory [Map].

Battle of Lewes

On 14 May 1264 the army of Simon de Montfort 6th Earl of Leicester 1st Earl Chester (age 56) including Gilbert "Red Earl" Clare 7th Earl Gloucester 6th Earl Hertford (age 20), Henry Hastings (age 29) and Nicholas Segrave 1st Baron Segrave (age 26) defeated the army of King Henry III of England (age 56) during the Battle of Lewes at Lewes [Map]. King Henry III of England (age 56), his son the future King Edward "Longshanks" I of England (age 24), Humphrey Bohun 2nd Earl Hereford 1st Earl Essex (age 60), Richard of Cornwall 1st Earl Cornwall (age 55), John "Red" Comyn 1st Lord Baddenoch (age 44), Philip Marmion 5th Baron Marmion (age 30) and John Giffard 1st Baron Giffard Brimpsfield (age 32) were captured. John Warenne 6th Earl Surrey (age 33), John Balliol (age 56), Robert Bruce 5th Lord Annandale (age 49), Roger Leybourne (age 49) and William de Valence 1st Earl Pembroke fought for the King. Guy Lusignan was killed. Fulk IV Fitzwarin (age 44) drowned. Bishop Walter de Cantelupe (age 73) was present and blessed the Montfort army before the battle.
