After 1654 [his father] Philip Stanhope 2nd Earl Chesterfield (age 20) and Elizabeth Butler Countess Chesterfield (age 13) were married. She by marriage Countess Chesterfield. She the daughter of James Butler 1st Duke Ormonde (age 43) and Elizabeth Preston Duchess Ormonde (age 38). He the son of Henry Stanhope and Katherine Wotton Countess Chesterfield (age 45).

On 12 Sep 1656 Philip Stanhope 1st Earl Chesterfield (age 72) died. His grandson [his father] Philip Stanhope 2nd Earl Chesterfield (age 22) succeeded 2nd Earl Chesterfield, 2nd Baron Stanhope of Shelford in Nottinghamshire.

After Jul 1665 [his father] Philip Stanhope 2nd Earl Chesterfield (age 31) and [his mother] Elizabeth Dormer Countess Chesterfield (age 12) were married. She by marriage Countess Chesterfield. She the daughter of Charles Dormer 2nd Earl Carnarvon (age 32) and Elizabeth Capell Countess Carnarvon (age 32). He the son of Henry Stanhope and Katherine Wotton Countess Chesterfield (age 56). They were third cousin once removed.

On 03 Feb 1673 Philip Stanhope 3rd Earl Chesterfield was born to Philip Stanhope 2nd Earl Chesterfield (age 39) and Elizabeth Dormer Countess Chesterfield (age 20).

On 22 Sep 1694 [his son] Philip Stanhope 4th Earl Chesterfield was born to Philip Stanhope 3rd Earl Chesterfield (age 21) and [his wife] Elizabeth Savile Countess Chesterfield (age 17).

Evelyn's Diary. 07 Apr 1695. [his father-in-law] Lord Halifax (deceased) died suddenly at London, the day his [his wife] daughter (age 18) was married to the [his father] Earl of Nottingham's (age 61) son (age 22) at Burleigh. Lord H. was a very rich man, very witty, and in his younger days somewhat positive.

In 1702 [his son] William Stanhope was born to Philip Stanhope 3rd Earl Chesterfield (age 28) and [his wife] Elizabeth Savile Countess Chesterfield (age 25).

On or before 06 Feb 1704 [his brother] Charles Stanhope aka Wooton (age 28) died. Boughton aka Bocton Place, Kent [Map] was inherited by his elder brother Philip Stanhope 3rd Earl Chesterfield (age 31).

In 1708 [his wife] Elizabeth Savile Countess Chesterfield (age 31) died. She was buried with her parentrrs in Westminster Abbey [Map].

On 28 Jan 1714 [his father] Philip Stanhope 2nd Earl Chesterfield (age 80) died. He was buried at Shelford [Map]. His son Philip Stanhope 3rd Earl Chesterfield (age 40) succeeded 3rd Earl Chesterfield, 3rd Baron Stanhope of Shelford in Nottinghamshire. [his former wife] Elizabeth Savile Countess Chesterfield by marriage Countess Chesterfield.

In 1724 [his son-in-law] Charles Hotham 5th Baronet (age 30) and [his daughter] Gertrude Stanhope Baroness Hotham (age 29) were married. She by marriage Lady Hotham of Scorborough in Yorkshire. She the daughter of Philip Stanhope 3rd Earl Chesterfield (age 50) and Elizabeth Savile Countess Chesterfield.

On 27 Jan 1726 Philip Stanhope 3rd Earl Chesterfield (age 52) died. His son [his son] Philip Stanhope 4th Earl Chesterfield (age 31) succeeded 4th Earl Chesterfield, 4th Baron Stanhope of Shelford in Nottinghamshire and inherited Boughton aka Bocton Place, Kent [Map].
