In or before 1476 [his father] William Lovell Baron Marshal, Baron Morley [aged 48] and [his mother] Alianore Morley 8th Baroness Marshal 7th Baroness Morley [aged 33] were married. He by marriage Baron Marshal, Baron Morley. They were third cousin once removed. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Henry III of England.
In 1476 [his mother] Alianore Morley 8th Baroness Marshal 7th Baroness Morley [aged 34] died.
On 23rd July 1476 [his father] William Lovell Baron Marshal, Baron Morley [aged 49] died. His son Henry succeeded 9th Baron Marshal, 8th Baron Morley. [his future wife] Elizabeth Pole Baroness Marshal and Morley [aged 8] by marriage Baroness Marshal, Baroness Morley.
In or before 1481 [his brother-in-law] William Parker Baron Marshal Baron Morley [aged 15] and [his sister] Alice Lovell 10th Baroness Marshal 9th Baroness Morley [aged 13] were married. He by marriage Baron Marshal, Baron Morley.
The Ricardian Volume 8 1988-1990 Pages 382-402. He [Francis Lovell [aged 27]] was, however, strikingly singled out with his promotion on 4th January 1483 to the rank of Viscount, an honour accorded by Edward IV to only one other nobleman, William [aged 57], Lord Berkeley (1481). The ceremony began with his entering the King’s great chamber, dressed in his parliament robes, led between his cousin, Lord Morley1, and his brother-in-law, Richard [aged 26]2, Lord Fitzhugh. His patent was read aloud by the King’s secretary, and he proceeded to his chamber accompanied by the sound of trumpets. There he distributed fees to the 'officers of arms' and his titles were recited in the hall — 'puissant et noble visconte Lovell, sieur dew Holland, de Burnell, Deygnecort et de Grey de Rotherfilde'.48 There can be little doubt that this elevation was due primarily to the influence of the Duke of Gloucester, and the sudden turn of events in the summer of 1483, and Gloucester’s assumption of the throne, meant a rapid escalation in grants and appointments to his friend and associate, Lovell.

Note 48. BL. Additional MS. 6113, f.126d. Curiously, the writer of the account places this creation in the reign of Richard III, but this is almost certainly wrong. He also says that Thomas Thwaites was knighted on the same day, and according to W. A. Shaw, The Knights of England, vol. 2, London 1906, p.21, this took place on 3 January 1483. On 17th April 1483 the coffin of Edward IV [deceased] was carried to Westminster Abbey [Map] by Edward Stanley 1st Baron Monteagle [aged 21], John Savage [aged 39], Thomas Wortley [aged 50], Thomas Molyneux [aged 38], probably John Welles 1st Viscount Welles [aged 33] who had married Edward's daughter Cecily), John Cheney 1st Baron Cheyne [aged 41], Walter Hungerford [aged 19], Guy Wolston [aged 50], John Sapcote [aged 35], Thomas Tyrrell [aged 30], John Risley, Thomas Dacre 2nd Baron Dacre Gilsland [aged 15], John Norreys, Louis de Bretelles and John Comyn 4th Lord Baddenoch.
