On 8th July 1903 [his father] Mervyn Manningham-Buller 3rd Baronet [aged 27] and [his mother] Lilah Constance Cavendish [aged 19] were married. They were half sixth cousins.

On 1st August 1905 Reginald Manningham-Buller 1st Viscount Dilhorne was born to Mervyn Manningham-Buller 3rd Baronet [aged 29] and Lilah Constance Cavendish [aged 21].

On 27th April 1910 Morton Manningham-Buller 2nd Baronet [aged 84] died. His nephew [his father] Mervyn [aged 34] succeeded 3rd Baronet Manningham-Buller of Dilhorne in Staffordshire.

In 1930 Reginald Manningham-Buller 1st Viscount Dilhorne [aged 24] and Mary Lillian Lindsay [aged 20] were married. She the daughter of David Lindsay 27th Earl of Crawford 10th Earl Balcarres [aged 58] and Constance Lilian Pelly Countess Crawford and Balcarres. They were half third cousin twice removed.

On 28th February 1932 [his son] John Manningham-Buller 2nd Viscount Dilhorne was born to Reginald Manningham-Buller 1st Viscount Dilhorne [aged 26] and [his wife] Mary Lillian Lindsay [aged 22].

On 8th March 1940 [his father-in-law] David Lindsay 27th Earl of Crawford 10th Earl Balcarres [aged 68] died. His son [his brother-in-law] David [aged 39] succeeded 28th Earl Crawford, 11th Earl Balcarres. Mary Katherine Cavendish Countess of Crawford and Balcarres by marriage Countess Crawford, Countess Balcarres.

On 27th April 1944 [his mother] Lilah Constance Cavendish [aged 60] died.

On 14th July 1948 [his daughter] Eliza Manningham-Buller 1st Baroness Manningham-Buller was born to Reginald Manningham-Buller 1st Viscount Dilhorne [aged 42] and [his wife] Mary Lillian Lindsay [aged 38].

On 22nd August 1956 [his father] Mervyn Manningham-Buller 3rd Baronet [aged 80] died. His son Reginald [aged 51] succeeded 4th Baronet Manningham-Buller of Dilhorne in Staffordshire.

The QUEEN has been pleased: by Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the Realm, bearing date the 17th instant, to confer the dignity of a Barony of the United 'Kingdom, upon Major The Right Honourable Sir Reginald Edward Manmingham-Buller [aged 56], Baronet, QC, Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain, and the heirs male of his body lawfully begotten, by the name, style and tide of Baron Dilhorne, of Towcester in the County of Northampton.

Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough

A canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: 'In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed.'

The QUEEN has been pleased by Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the Realm, bearing date the 7th day of December 1964, to confer the dignity of a Viscounty of the United Kingdom upon Major the Right Honourable Reginald Edward Baron Dilhorne [aged 59], and the heirs male of his body lawfully begotten, by the name, style and title of Viscount Dilhorne, of Greens Norton in the County of Northampton.

On 13th December 1975 [his brother-in-law] David Lindsay 28th Earl of Crawford 11th Earl Balcarres [aged 75] died. His son Robert [aged 48] succeeded 29th Earl Crawford, 12th Earl Balcarres.

On 7th September 1980 Reginald Manningham-Buller 1st Viscount Dilhorne [aged 75] died. His son John [aged 48] succeeded 2nd Viscount Dilhorne of Greens Northon in Northamptonshire, 2nd Baron Dilhorne of Towcester in Northamptonshire, 5th Baronet Manningham-Buller of Dilhorne in Staffordshire.

In 2004 [his former wife] Mary Lillian Lindsay [aged 94] died.
