Biography of Edward Conway 1st Earl Conway 1623-1683
In 1621 [his father] Edward Conway 2nd Viscount Conway (age 26) and [his mother] Frances Popham Viscountess Conway (age 24) were married.
Around 1623 Edward Conway 1st Earl Conway was born to Edward Conway 2nd Viscount Conway (age 28) and Frances Popham Viscountess Conway (age 26).
On 03 Jan 1631 [his grandfather] Edward Conway 1st Viscount Conway (age 67) died in St Martin's Lane. His son [his father] Edward Conway 2nd Viscount Conway (age 36) succeeded 2nd Viscount Conway of Conway Castle. [his mother] Frances Popham Viscountess Conway (age 34) by marriage Viscountess Conway of Conway Castle.
On 11 Feb 1651 Edward Conway 1st Earl Conway (age 28) and Anne Finch (age 19) were married.
On 26 Jun 1655 [his father] Edward Conway 2nd Viscount Conway (age 60) died in Lyon, France [Map]. His son Edward Conway 1st Earl Conway (age 32) succeeded 3rd Baron Conway of Ragley in Warwickshire.
On 02 Jan 1668 Edward Conway 1st Earl Conway (age 45) was elected Fellow of the Royal Society.
Before 20 Oct 1670 [his brother-in-law] Simon Bennett (age 46) and Grace Moorwood were married.
In 1671 [his mother] Frances Popham Viscountess Conway (age 74) died.
Evelyn's Diary. 18 Feb 1678. My Lord Treasurer (age 45) sent for me to accompany him to Wimbledon, which he had lately purchased of the Earl of Bristol (age 44); so breaking fast with him privately in his chamber, I accompanied him with two of his daughters, my Lord Conway (age 55), and Sir Bernard Gascoyne (age 64); and, having surveyed his gardens and alterations, returned late at night.
On 23 Feb 1679 [his wife] Anne Finch (age 47) died.
After 23 Feb 1679 Edward Conway 1st Earl Conway (age 56) and Elizabeth Booth Countess Conway were married.
On 03 Dec 1679 Edward Conway 1st Earl Conway (age 56) was created 1st Earl Conway. [his wife] Elizabeth Booth Countess Conway by marriage Countess Conway.
On 04 Jul 1681 [his wife] Elizabeth Booth Countess Conway died.
After 04 Jul 1681 Edward Conway 1st Earl Conway (age 58) and Ursula Stawell Countess Mulgrave and Conway were married. She by marriage Countess Conway.
In or before 1682 [his former brother-in-law] Dean Robert Booth (age 20) and Ann Booth (age 15) were married.
On 20 Aug 1682 [his former brother-in-law] Simon Bennett (age 58) died. He left three daughters two of whom, Elizabeth Bennett and frances bennett countess of salisbury 1670 1713 (age 11), married into the nobilty.
On 11 Aug 1683 Edward Conway 1st Earl Conway (age 60) died. He was buried in the Church of the Holy Trinity Arrow [Map]. Earl Conway, Baron Conway of Ragley in Warwickshire extinct.
He bequeathed his estates to his cousin's son Popham Seymour-Conway (age 8) with the condition he should change his name to Seymour-Conway and adopt the Conway Arms.
On 18 Mar 1686 John Sheffield 1st Duke of Buckingham and Normanby (age 37) and [his former wife] Ursula Stawell Countess Mulgrave and Conway were married at the chapel of Littlecote House. She by marriage Countess Mulgrave. He the son of Edmund Sheffield 2nd Earl Mulgrave and Elizabeth Cranfield Countess Mulgrave (age 78).
On 13 Aug 1697 [his former wife] Ursula Stawell Countess Mulgrave and Conway died.
