On 27 Jun 1558 [his father] Thomas Hoby (age 28) and [his mother] Elizabeth Cooke (age 31) were married.

In 1560 Edward Hoby was born to Thomas Hoby (age 30) and Elizabeth Cooke (age 33) at Bisham Abbey [Map].

On 13 Jul 1566 [his father] Thomas Hoby (age 36) died at Paris [Map]. He was buried at Bisham.

On 29 Dec 1574 [his future brother-in-law] George Carey 2nd Baron Hunsdon (age 27) and Elizabeth Spencer Baroness Hunsdon and Eure (age 22) were married.

On 20 Dec 1576 [his future brother-in-law] John Carey 3rd Baron Hunsdon (age 26) and Mary Hyde Baroness Hunsdon (age 22) were married.

On 21 May 1582 Edward Hoby (age 22) and Margaret Carey were married.

On 22 May 1582 Edward Hoby (age 22) was knighted by Queen Elizabeth I of England and Ireland (age 48).

Before 1583 [his brother-in-law] Edmund Carey (age 25) and Mary Crocker were married.

In 1584 Thomas Scrope 10th Baron Scrope of Bolton (age 17) and [his sister-in-law] Philadelphia Carey Baroness Scrope Bolton were married. They were third cousins.

Before 10 Aug 1593 John Wentworth (age 29) and [his future wife] Cicely Unton (age 32) were married. They were third cousin once removed.

Death of Henry Carey 1st Baron Hunsdon

On 23 Jul 1596 [his father-in-law] Henry Carey 1st Baron Hunsdon (age 70) died at Somerset House [Map]. Queen Elizabeth I of England and Ireland (age 62) was present. She, apparently, proposed he be made Earl of Wiltshire. He refused saying ... "Madam, as you did not count me worthy of this honour in life, then I shall account myself not worthy of it in death". His son [his brother-in-law] George Carey 2nd Baron Hunsdon (age 49) succeeded 2nd Baron Hunsdon. Elizabeth Spencer Baroness Hunsdon and Eure (age 44) by marriage Baroness Hunsdon.

In 1598 [his brother-in-law] Edmund Carey (age 40) and Elizabeth Neville (age 48) were married. The marriage was, perhaps, a means of procuring a pardon for her two sons who had previously shot and killed a neighbour, and fled abroad. A payment was made to the bereaved family and the sons were allowed to return. They were fourth cousins.

On 08 Sep 1603 [his brother-in-law] George Carey 2nd Baron Hunsdon (age 56) died. His brother [his brother-in-law] John Carey 3rd Baron Hunsdon (age 53) succeeded 3rd Baron Hunsdon. Mary Hyde Baroness Hunsdon (age 49) by marriage Baroness Hunsdon.

In 1605 [his wife] Margaret Carey died.

After 1605 Edward Hoby (age 45) and Cicely Unton (age 44) were married.

In 1609 Thomas Finch 2nd Earl Winchilsea (age 30) and [his step-daughter] Cecily Wentworth Countess Winchelsea (age 15) were married. He the son of Moyle Finch 1st Baronet (age 59) and Elizabeth Heneage 1st Countess Winchelsea (age 52).

In 1609 [his mother] Elizabeth Cooke (age 82) died.
