In 1581 [her grandfather] Robert Rich 2nd Baron Rich of Leez (age 44) died. In 1581 His son [her father] Robert Rich 1st Earl Warwick (age 21) succeeded 3rd Baron Rich of Leez.
On 10 Jan 1581 [her father] Robert Rich 1st Earl Warwick (age 21) and [her mother] Penelope Devereux Countess Devonshire (age 18) were married. She by marriage Baroness Rich of Leez. She the daughter of Walter Devereux 1st Earl Essex and Lettice Knollys Countess Essex (age 37).
In 1589 Lettice Rich was born to Robert Rich 1st Earl Warwick (age 29) and Penelope Devereux Countess Devonshire (age 25).
On 26 Dec 1605 [her step-father] Charles Blount 1st Earl Devonshire (age 42) and [her mother] Penelope Devereux Countess Devonshire (age 42) were married at Wansted House during a service conducted by Archbishop William Laud (age 32) (future). The marriage was regarded as uncanonical and resulted in the disgrace of both parties, who were banished from King James I's court circles. She by marriage Countess Devonshire. She the daughter of Walter Devereux 1st Earl Essex and Lettice Knollys Countess Essex (age 62). They were third cousins.
On 07 Jul 1607 [her mother] Penelope Devereux Countess Devonshire (age 44) died.
On 12 Feb 1615 William Cecil 16th Baron Ros Helmsley (age 24) and [her future sister-in-law] Anne Lake Baroness Ros Helmsley (age 15) were married. She by marriage Baroness Ros Helmsley. See Diary of Anne Clifford. He the son of William Cecil 2nd Earl Exeter (age 49) and Elizabeth Manners 15th Baroness Ros Helmsley.
In 1616 [her father] Robert Rich 1st Earl Warwick (age 56) and [her step-mother] Frances Wray Countess Warwick were married. She by marriage Baroness Rich of Leez.
Before 15 Feb 1616 George Carey (age 75) and Lettice Rich (age 27) were married. The difference in their ages was 48 years. She the daughter of Robert Rich 1st Earl Warwick (age 56) and Penelope Devereux Countess Devonshire.
In 1618 [her father] Robert Rich 1st Earl Warwick (age 58) was created 1st Earl Warwick. [her step-mother] Frances Wray Countess Warwick by marriage Countess Warwick.
After 27 Jun 1618 George Rodney (age 10) and [her future sister-in-law] Anne Lake Baroness Ros Helmsley (age 18) were married.
Before 1619 Arthur Lake (age 21) and Lettice Rich (age 29) were married. She the daughter of Robert Rich 1st Earl Warwick (age 59) and Penelope Devereux Countess Devonshire.
Diary of Anne Clifford 1619. 15 Feb 1619. The 15th Sir [her father-in-law] Thomas Lake (age 51), his Lady (age 44), and [her sister-in-law] Lady Ross (age 19), were sent to the Tower [Map]. There was nothing heard all this term but the matter between the Countess of Exeter (age 39) and them, at which the King sat [five] several days. It was censured on my Lady Exeter’s (age 39) side against them, who were fined great fines both to the King and her, there was spoken extraordinary foul matters of my Lady Ross (age 19) and reports went that amongst others she lay with her own brother, so as their foul matters did double the miseries of my Lady Lettice (age 30) Lake in her unfortunate marriage. Sarah Swarton was fined and censured to be whipt, which censure was not executed, the reason she confessed all that she knew.
In Sir Thomas Lake’s (age 51) place Sir George Calvert (age 39) was sworn secretary.
On 20 Mar 1619 [her father] Robert Rich 1st Earl Warwick (age 59) died. His son [her brother] Robert Rich 2nd Earl Warwick (age 31) succeeded 2nd Earl Warwick, 4th Baron Rich of Leez. Frances Hatton Countess Warwick (age 29) by marriage Countess Warwick.
He was buried at St Lawrence's Church, Snarford [Map]. Unusual head and shoulder portrait sculpture of deceased full face, with a profile of his wife [her step-mother] Frances Wray Countess Warwick behind, set in a circular medallion. To either side are pelleted Pilasters supporting an entablature with scrolled Cartouche of arms and flanked by heraldic supporters. The whole is painted and gilded and beneath is a panel containing an inscribed poem. Above his Arms implaled with hers. His are quartered 1&4 Rich Arms 2&3 Baldry Arms (his mother), hers quartered 1&4 Wray 2&3 Unknown. the monument is perhaps the work of Epiphanius Evesham. Sculpted by Epiphanius Evesham.
Diary of Anne Clifford 1619. 24 Apr 1619. Saturday 24th my Lord (age 30) went to Tibbalds to see the King who used him very graciously. This night my Coz. Clifford came out of the North where matters went more to my content and less to his than were expected. Either this night or next morning Sir [her husband] Arthur Lake’s (age 21) Lady (age 30) was brought to bed of a son.
Diary of Anne Clifford 1619. 03 May 1619. The 3rd about two or three o’clock in the morning Sir [her husband] Arthur Lake’s (age 21) wife (age 30) died, having been grievously tormented a long time with pains and sores which broke out in blotches so that it was reported she died of the French disease. This day Williams a lawyer was arraigned and condemned at the King’s Bench of Treason and adjudged to be hanged, drawn and quartered for a certain book he had made and entitled Balaam’s Ass, for which book one Cotton was committed to the Tower and a long time kept prisoner there upon suspicion of it, but of late got out on bail and was now well acquitted, but Williams was carried to Newgate and on the 5th hanged, drawn and quartered at Charing Cross [Map].
Note. The 3rd Barnwelt was beheaded at the Hague which is like to breed alteration for the best for this man hath long been a secret friend to the Spaniards and an enemy to the English.
In 1633 [her former husband] Arthur Lake (age 35) died at Whitchurch.
